"So... does this story have legs?"

Not unless you're into conspiracy theories. There might have been a rogue employee or two who padded their survey response rate, but it would have taken hundreds of co-conspirators (mostly career employees, not political appointees) to have any material impact on the reports. The statistical odds of that happening without us hearing about it for over a year is about the same as Taylor Swift giving me a blowjob tonight.

Incidentally, there's an error in your post. The reported unemployment rate is based on the household surveys, not the number of jobs created. Separate reports, conducted by different agencies, of different respondents.

Just two things...

The New York Post?

If there was actually some shenanagans, one would have seen an increase in the unemployment rate in subsequent months, something that did not happen. Unless, of course, you beleive that they have perpetrated this fraud to the present day.

With as many moving parts as you have with unemployment figures, this fraud, if it happened, would have been found out by a real journalism outfit...

So... does this story have legs?

The September 2012 labor market report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics [the last report people really had to chew on prior to making their voting decisions] reported a drop in the unemployment rate from 8.1 percent to 7.8 percent. This was based on an astonishing one-month increase of 873,000 jobs. According to John Crudele at the New York Post, a source at the Census Bureau confirms that the data were indeed manipulated by an employee named Julius Buckmon, who says he was following orders from his superiors.

The Census employee caught faking the results is Julius Buckmon, according to confidential Census documents obtained by The Post. Buckmon told [Crudele] in an interview this past weekend that he was told to make up information by higher-ups at Census.

Census never publicly disclosed the falsification. Nor did it inform Labor that its data was tainted.

“Yes, absolutely they should have told us,” said a Labor spokesman. “It would be normal procedure to notify us if there is a problem with data collection.”

Tbr:

The way I see it, when someone blocks me because they do not like my politics,(Blocking forum members for reasons such as what thereugo has done) they have chosen to put themselves into exile, rather than face or debate with someone who isn't going to simply lie down and accept their answers without the use of logic.

The US will never be as it was during its foundation and its first death was assured with the opening shots ofthe first American civil war. The world these republicans, tea party members, libertarians and others want is both illogical and unrealistic to obtain.

So long as the masses have a voice in government, these groups must accept that the direction this nation progresses towards will always be to the likings of the masses.

The can do generation of the 1930s to the 1950/60s were more liberal than those of the 1970s-1990s. These more conservative minded (70s-90s) people have put the majority of my generation into the groups which do not fear socialism... For we live corporate socialism day. A gift from the generation in power during the70s-90s.

We vote too many morons off the island, and there will only be a couple of us left.

But I wouldn't have this bruise from slapping my forehead...
