I dont think there would be a strong public outcry if Tsarnaev was on the cover of a publication devoted to the news such as Time, US News, or The Economist but Rolling Stone is an entertainment based magazine that is known for iconic covers with images of Janet Jackson, Meryl Streep, Jimi Hendrix, etc. By putting Tsarvaev on the cover it sends the message that mass killers are celebrities and part of what entertains our society.

Dukakis taught at UCLA when I was there. In the same school as I attended. A friend took a class with him and said he was very personable.

"GWB in person is very charismatic."

But very very few voters ever get the see that side of someone running for president. Their public personas were about as boring as can be, sans the competition.

GWB in person is very charismatic. Jimmy Carter bland. Nixon big grin very friendly.

Or so rumors say...

Eh, there's a long list of people who rose to power despite being a little bland in the personality department.

For example, I don't think either Bush Sr or Jr were ever all that charismatic. Reagan was. Clinton was. Obama is. Luckily for the Bush family, the dems somehow managed to roll out candidates who were even more boring than the Bushes. Dukakis, Gore, & Kerry? Snore.

Charismatic people are persuasive. Persuasive people become leaders.

I don't feel this way about Ahmadinajead. He's got a very sneaky face, very ratty eyes. Morsi, the ousted MB Egypt's President, in my opinion has a very kind and friendly face. So does Mahmoud Abbas.

Ted Bundy, by all accounts, was very charming...

That makes sense.

A lot of psychos are actually very friendly people when they aren't trying to kill people. It was long said that Osama bin Laden was a very friendly person, according to people who interviewed him long ago. I remember seeing the interview with Ahmadinijadh or however you spell it from Iran. Of course I couldn't understand anything he was saying, but he had a very kind face and seemed very friendly. If I knew nothing else about him I'd guess he was a very nice person.
