What part of no skills, no upward mobility do you not understand?

I worked at giant food from when I was 15, ending at 24. Never once was a worker promoted to assistant manager without first having an associates in business, and manager without having a batchlers degree in business management.

Giant would sooner take a fresh out of college bachelor student and make them a manager, than their fifty year old workers who worked the job sense the company first entered Hazleton.

Education = skills. Experience is just icening on the cake these days.

So why don't you tell me how well all those new methods or working out for you. Seem I don't remember kids shooting up schools or 12yr old girls stabbing their friend 19 times to empress a fictional character when I was growing up.

Well Boddy you can look at it this way, If one is able they can pay to go to collage and then still have no experience when they enter the work force or if you are like my family (coming for meager means) you can start work young at the bottom and gain the skills you need and if done right be above the of a college grad of the same age. The point is you do what you have to do. And so you will know being poor today is no different than it was when I was you age. When I was 21 I worked 60 hrs plus a week for a measly 900. a month and had a wife and kid to care for. It wasn't easy but again You do what you have to do or you die.

As for sparing the rod, spoil the child? Bull shit.

It has been proven that the only thing the rid taught anyone was not to be caught, to use violence to obtain what you want, to become more abusive toward others and to become less sympathetic toward the plight of others.

It did not teach right from wrong, only that might makes right. The government started to step in when mass media was invented and people coast to coast began to hear more accounts of abuse. These abuses didn't increase in frequency after the invention of the radio or TV, rather like the hysteria over the end times that resulted in our broadening awareness of global events, we became more aware of the rods abusive results.

Further, it is a fact that slaves were beaten into submission. A child is totally dependent upon their parents for everything. If you strike someone, you intend to enslave it to your demands and desires. You in effect deny it their own growth. So we demand that you learn better ways to guide the child's growth, and that involves learning to become more involved in the child's daily life.

Not to be confused with helicopter parents who choose everything the child does. Rather you must learn to use reason and logic, explaining it to the child and rewarding good behavior. When compared to even three decades ago, you have many more tools, carrots to use than you once did.

Punitive actions such as revolking access to the Internet, cell phones, video games, are but three new age carrots to be taken and returned once good behavior is restored and proven. This however requires the parents involvement in their child's life. That means being home more often, and that means not working past the time your kid returns from school.

Society has evolved beyond the 19th century, it is time your actions reflect this evolution.

I do not know much about your state, but here in PA, a chief doesn't hire anyone without atleast an associate degree in culinary arts and a bachelors is better.

Personally I see any degree with a prefix, subject or suffix that includes the word art as a waste of time and money. But I am a bitter art student who knows better than to run for political office. :-)

Before you ask, the answer to why more people (young especially) move to states like your own? Because we will not subject ourselves to your mentality of meaningless work. If you gain profit from our labors, we profit too or you no longer have our labors. The idea of work before gaining the reward died when your generation sold the idea to the third world and reduced 20 year veterans of any field must accept less pay, because there are more qualified workers.

We know the pools are against us, we have already figured the math out. So instead of playing your game, you are going to play ours or we will keep voting for a more socialist government that gives money to the unemployed and underemployed.

Now we has left you with two options. Adapt to our demands, or be taxed as our voice grows in strength. You will ensure our voice grows as you reduce the worth of others.

Incompetent parents with unruly children.

Wouldn't that be your generation. ( the one we raised)

I'll tell you when thing went wrong. When the government step in an started trying to tell us how to raise our own children.

Spare the rod spoil the child.

But how can young generation right now get that experience in the first place if nobody will even interview them and give them a chance to learn real world experience?

They have to learn to do it the hard way, My son went to work as a peon for a chef in Organ, fell in love with the Idea of being a chef and learn every thing he could from the man he was working for and learned all his recipes. When he moved to New Orleans he Worked under some of the greatest chefs in the world (sometimes starting at the bottom of the ladder. It was hard and frustrating work, but it paid off and now he as a very good paying job and and even has a few of his original recipes on the menu of some of the most famous restaurants in New Orleans.

You Just have to figure out what is is you are made to do, and than strive to be the very best at it and success will follow.

Hell even my Daughter who dropped out of high school Makes between 15 and 30 dollars an hour at an enter level position.

Toomuch:

You are dead wrong. The teachers and other public office involved in teaching, demand a icing befitting those who are educating the next generation of citizens. There are few more important jobs than this.

Now why should a teacher enjoy a 50,000 a year job? Because they had to attend college for 4 years, put off having a family until about 25 years old and must deal both with your child (and others) without becoming visibly upset, taking their anger out on your child... Not to mention the failings of over fifty percent of parents to have been education their kids at home.

This is the 21st century. No child should need be taught in school (preschool) how to say their alphabet, or count 1 through 10. That is the parents job. It should have been a complained by the child's age of five. They may not understand the importance of these skills, but no child should have entered preschool without already knowing them.

Then the teachers must contend with the denial most parents have about the unacceptable behaviors of their own children. And how parents threaten legal action (sometimes following through) when their child is given detention for misbehaving, let alone the demands to defund detention (not in school, but on a Saturday or after school)", this you must pay to transport your child home and to Saturday detention)

If you would like, I can obtain a more complete listing of the problems teachers are faced with, because you and many parents are in denial of your own mistakes, much less your child's. and yes, the teachers must contend with reporting your child's errors to parents who use physical punishment, because such forms are unacceptable and achieve nothing, but to create a more abusive person through teaching violence to obtain a desired effect.

So the teachers must balance reporting errors and misbehavior, with the long term effects of possible punitive actions which only damages the child worst. Personally, I would report the child's mistakes and then observe said child for signs of abuse (any physical or excessive mental abuse) and file charges against such parents.

Ummm There was a link on here earlier that kinda sums up the education issue. The PUBLIC government funded institutions seems to me to be a money grubbing and greedy as the evil capitalists.

Whoever posted this first step up and take credit because I don't remember who you were but I've been sending that link. :)

here it is: bluenationreview. com/angry-graduate-sends-letter-when-school-begs-for-money/ Take the extra space out when you paste it SLS does not allow links when they figure it out

You are correct, without a college degree and to a lesser extent a trade school certificate, you cannot even become a manager at a store. Giant food, turkey hill, Walmart, and other stores will not hire from within or out (any position above assistant manager, (a 9USD an hour job) without a 4 year degree in business management.

And applying without the minimum requirements has your application tossed into the garbage without being read. So you can have a life time of experience, and it would be meaningless.

These older guys here need to wake up to the fact that the world has changed and to survive financially, you must make at a minimum 30,000 USD to start. That is just enough above poverty to afford living in the city, where the jobs are.

As for rdy's sales job, it is nothing more than scam. Personally, the entire telemarketing system should be considered harassment, unless I specifically call you, do not call me to sell me anything, ever.
