This is the biggest myth when it comes to the pro-death penalty argument. It's not like someone is sentenced to the death penalty and is killed the next day. There's usually a waiting list. And appeals. And more court proceedings. How many death row inmates are paying their legal fees? My guess is not too many. Who is absorbing that cost? Tax payers. Who pays the prosecutors? Tax payers. Who pays the defense attorney(s)? Tax payers. Who pays the judge, jury, bailiffs, stenographer? Tax payers. Who pays to transport the convict to and from court? Tax payers. Who pays for the extra manpower needed for securing the prisoner while going to and from court? Tax payers. All of these things cost money in addition to the cost of housing the prisoner. When it's all said and done, by the time an inmate actually reaches the death chamber, hundreds of thousands, if not millions of tax dollars have been spent for legal proceedings. T

User Details are only visible to members.	It's kind of like how many states have had to halt executions because their thiopental supplies were past their use-by date. If your only requirement is that it will kill the guy, I can whip up some thiopental for you in a few hours.

User Details are only visible to members.	I hope no one took me wrong with what I said! As a healthcare professional, yes: aeseptic technique is firmly entrenched in all of us. As a civilized person, yes: it's wrong to carry out such a punishment as any kind of "revenge" on the criminal and make it cruel or unusual punishment. That all being said, it still DOES seems a little ironic to do all that given that there's no chance for infection to set in and it makes no difference in the pain or any other pertinent factors. BUT, if I were the person administering such {which I could never do, it would bother me too much}, I would probably still feel compelled to follow the protocols I was taught and are firmly entrenched in me, whether they were required or not in that type of situation.

Now that's a waste of taxpayer money. I may be a Dem and a liberal, but when it comes to killers an eye for an eye is a good practice. Besides, it would lower my property taxes. Not wanting to turn this political.
