First it was 20-20 and John Stossel on swinging now today it’s The Oprah Winfrey Show and "Secret Sex In The Suburbs" Seems we are back in the headlights. What did you think of the show? John & Caren

We did have one long time part-time employee and friend decide they could not work for us any longer as “people would know and might think they were part of it”. The first time it aired we were at the Naw’leans in November lifestyle event (which should not be missed) and we watched with friends. The good was we got to meet and know some people there we may not have met had we not done the show. There was also the couple that stopped us to tell us that “The show was ok but we were not good looking enough” so we should not have done it. Since we did not use our real names we figured no one would know it was us (besides who watches daytime TV) Some family that did not know saw the show and let us know they did not approve (but they have moved on and it has not come up again) “Tina” had a lady come up to her while shopping and ask if she had been on Oprah and then laugh and walk away when she said yes. She also had an older client say she had seen her on the show and want to know “What Oprah is like”. When the show reran we also had a client see it and call his brother who is also a client “Turn on the TV you have to see this” the brother has asked Tina about it and of course he told his employees who asked our employees since they are in our office building. Far as we can tell the client was trying to find out if we recruit friends and get more information he like most that have asked are curious. (Maybe he wanted to know why we did not approach him his wife or his brother and his wife) To our knowledge we have lost no clients and if our friends have problems they weren’t very good friends and to date we have only had one friend that will not be seen with us. We think she can’t stand that we are having so much fun. Even the ministers seem to have come back to have their taxes done again this year, so ether they don’t watch daytime TV or they don’t care. Our kids are normal (well not really normal they are all A or B students no drugs, drinking or smoking and they are capable of taking care of them self’s. They make us proud, if some times they for get to take out the trash or don’t clean their rooms as well as we would like) and only one of them had a friend ask if that was their parents on Oprah, our child went huh and that was that. If asked we are both happy to answer any questions, but most just can’t bring them self’s to ask. We are also self employed so we did not have to deal with bosses, but we do have clients, although they may not agree with what we do in the bedroom (or any where else in our house or that of our friends) we have not changed and I think most people know that. We know not everyone can let the world know and that many have jobs that for because society does not understand would be at risk. But for us it was mostly a non event.

Life Club fottage for 20/20 was filmed at Trapeze, we know because we are the couple on the dance floor kissing that were not in the rest of the show and we were not featured we were at Trapeze that night as we knew some of the couples in the 20/20 piece. We were also the couple on the couch for the Oprah show and the dance and other cuts were filimed at the Chicago Adventure and they were very careful to let everyone know when they were filming. We did not allow our selfs to be filimed at the Chicago Adventure except in Shadow and the producers later talked us into doing the show with Oprah

Since we were there for both the Oprah taping and the 20/20 taping, I can tell you that all the club and conventions scenes were taken with the full knowledge and consent of the Convention and Club owners, all persons photographed gave their approval no camera phones or other such devices were used. In every case the camera crews were proceeded by warnings and to those in the area and everyone was given time to get out of the way. As for public exposure well if anyone wants to do an undercover piece on the lifestyle what would make anyone think that they would not be willing to sign up for paid membership on this or any other site to get information. Since we know many club and event owners and not of them do background check on their members or those who attended their events what is there to stop a reporter from signing up as a member at your club or coming to an event. We understand not wanting to broadcast your involvement in the lifestyle, but for those who want a guarantee that no one will ever know we suggest you stay home. As for us we are not ashamed of what we do and although we do not seek the limelight we also will not spend our life’s hiding in the shadows fearing that someone will find out. Isn’t it about time that people know that people in the lifestyle are just like everyone else with jobs, families, normal life’s and all our own teeth.

But we felt the couple who were willing to be interviewed seemed real and honest. Not that we would ever go public in that way, but good for them. The show seemed to show that we are just normal folk and as Oprah said, maybe marriage is changing. John & Caren
