However in the burlesque world they are not made of hair or fur and are sparkly creations that we strip down to much like our pasties and usually they match our pasties so if we are doing say a cupcake themed routine there would be a sparkly cupcake merkin. Not all dancers will use merkins because you have to use adhesive to secure them and much like our pasties they are prone to wardrobe malfunction. A different version with a thong like strap that covers all the way up the ass crack is called a C-cup. PG
