Aye, there's the rub...

What do you propose my fine Frnz? Name the stakes and may the best team win.

Looking at the schedule your Stillers host my Browns on a Thursday night game (12/8) in the Burgh. It sure sounds like an opportunity to meet as a group somewhere and watch the game...and pay off the wager all at the same time.

;-D

Nan, I think the mst important question would be what do I get when my STILLERS beat that other team? ( can't seem to bring myself to say both names in the same sentence)

No worries Jan, I am indeed a true Burgh kid! Just didn't want to confuse anyone! GO STILLERS, :).

Very true Jan...Youngstown happens to be half way between Cleveland and Pittsburgh so the fan base is pretty evenly split. Although there have been many "Stiller" converts the past few decades as some fans jumped ship and others switched to the 49ers (the owners are from this area) Browns fans are typically pretty loyal.

You all need to learn that even though the Steelers are spelled that way, it is truly pronounced "Stillers", at least by us true burgh kids.

Stillers will kick some bird ass this weekend, although I do love Flacco.

How I would LOVE to make a Browns/Steelers wager with you Mrs. Frnz....perhaps I would be permitted to remove that football for an evening should my Brownies defeat your vaunted Steelers?

Actually that's not far from feelings today Rick but statistically.. highly unlikely. Wished I could say the Giants vs. Broncos.. BUT EVEN MORE UNLIKELY! :-(

Thanks Jan! We moved to Da Burgh 12 years ago and I was interacting with many "yinzers" with my job in sales. I was fascinated with the accent, and I've always enjoyed doing imitations.

When I first heard Myron Cope (yinzcaster fer da stillers, yoy!), I thought it was a drunk with a speech impediment doing a bad imitation of comedian Gilbert Gottfried. Even though I prefer listening to people who speak correctly, Myron grew on me and I enjoyed his ranting broadcasts (Myron was praahd-udda'burgh). He also helped me work on my Pittsburgese!

I don't think I have picked up much of the Pittsburgh accent, except I find myself saying parr and parrful instead of power and powerful.

And Rick, I have never heard the Amish say, "yinz bedder gettattadaroad," or, "canna corn, " or make predictions onna da Stillers. But I do a pretty good Amish accent since my sales territory included Volant and New Wilmington, where there are many Amish.
