The Dodgers are a mess right now. 1/3 of the fan base stopped going to games because they hate the owner and are trying to run him out of town. 1/3 stopped going because the stadium has a brigade of police officers at every game after a few thugs nearly beat a Giants fan to death on opening day and don't want to feel like they are in a police state while trying to enjoy a ball game. (The Giants fan had movement in his arms and legs for the first time today, btw) An the other 1/3 are thugs and criminals who also stopped going because of the added police presence.

User Details are only visible to members.	La Dodgers up 6-0 but end up losing to the Phils 9-8. Man LA sport scene is in big trouble. Dodgers are broke and the Lakers are on the decline. For now, no football. Wow! But hey, I live where the baseball team has the most loses in history. ESPN ranked the top five NFL teams: Packers, Patriots, Eagles, ????? and the Steelers. Rick

User Details are only visible to members.	It's going to be built near Staples center but will in no way lower the cost of Lakers tickets. Teams don't lower prices, only raise them to offset the annual inflation of operating costs and player salaries. But those raises in prices are minimal and very rarely do they happen on an annual basis. However, the added attraction will only drive the cost of Lakers tickets up from 2nd hand sources such as scalpers and "brokers"...aka....legal scalpers. The city of LA is on the hook for practically nothing in this new stadium deal, so that's good for local taxpayers. The company building the stadium (AEG) is assuming nearly the entire cost. In addition to the stadium, which is expected to hold 68,000 people, there will be a nearly 100,000 sqft convention center as well which should put LA in the top 5 most desirable places for businesses and events to hold their....um....conventions. As for potential teams to go there, the Chargers are the easiest solution. They can break their lease with the city of SD anytime they want from the end of this season until 2020. They will also likely retain most of their original SD fan base while attracting those living in the LA market. Not to mention, their close proximity to LA makes the logistics involved in relocating much, much easier and cost effective. That said, everyone, including the NFL commish wants to move Jacksonville. It's a bad town, bad stadium, bad NFL market and the team can't even fill half of the stadium. Problem is there's a very expensive buy out clause in their lease with the city so someone would have to come up with a few hundred mil in order to make that happen. They're still a strong possibility, but the Chargers are still comfortably in the lead. There's plenty of time though. Construction can't even begin until and environmental impact report is completed and a new team is chosen to move to LA. -Tony

In unrelated news, the LA City Counsel unanimously (12-0) voted to approve the downtown stadium and convention center, so it looks like LA will be getting a football team in the not so distant future. I think anyone and everyone would like to move the Jaguars out there but the 2 teams most likely to move are going to be the Chargers followed by the Rams.
