I am not as knowledgeable about Splenda but a quick look at its structure has me wonder about its potential as an alkylator. Studies have supported its safety but I haven't looked closely at them.

BLT: that's my theory. of course i know it has risks but life needs to be not only bearable but also enjoyable. so--i use the little yellow packets.

I absolutely love Diet Pepsi and have given it up entirely. Diet Peach Snapple is where I go if I deviate from water. I wonder how really bad that is for too at times. You know, on reflection, you have to have some pleasure besides swinging in life.....balance!

I wonder why it's even studied when they could just ask you about all the long term effects.

perf, i have an ongoing squabble with a relative who's been smoking since his teen years, abused other substances, and gives me h e double hockey sticks whenever we get together for using splenda in my tea/chai, and drinking one, maybe 2 diet sodas per day.

yeah: i know the chemicals aren't good for me. ~shrug~ we all take risks every day of one sort or another.

if a person is at risk for diabetes (i am), the sugar i am avoiding is in my better interests. would it be in my best interests to cut out sweeteners altogether? sure. but i will accept the risks.

I actually find it interesting. I wish i would have been VABEACH cleared before i decided to all but quit. I love my D Pepsi. I finished at least a 36 case per work week.

I'm speaking with respect to aspartame. If you care about what I wrote on the topic previously, search Aspartame on the fora.

You can think what you like of it, but this is something I can speak authoritatively on. More than your doctor. More than a nutritionist. More than almost any chemist or biochemist. My experience and personal knowledge of amino acid chemistry and metabolism would hold up to me being vetted as an expert on the topic in a courtroom.

But I'm not re-hashing my statements. Dismiss or accept.

I have no idea who Mr. Quality socks is, nor do I have any idea how anybody can think that diet soft drinks are good for them.

I don't know for sure but i have to believe it is not good. If it is not bad, it surely is no good.
