In my last visit to the local Blood Bank they gave me a new questionaire and leaflet to go with it. I was allowed to take the leaflet with me (and I have it here in front of me). They have a definition of "sexual contact" that applies regardless of whether condoms are used. Thus, according to this definition, many active swingers will have had "sexual contact" with someone other than their spouse in the previous year. The tricky part for me is that they ask that I do NOT donate blood if I have had sexual contact in the "past 12 months" with people in any of these categories: - have ever used needles to take drugs, steroids, or anything not prescribed by your doctor - are a male who has had sexual contact with another male, even once, since 1977 - have ever taken money, drugs or other payment for sex since 1977 Well, in truth, when we play with other couples, we ask them a fair number of questions, but don't get as specific as the questions above. Basically we get a general feeling for the couple and if we feel comfortable and there is an attraction then we have sex with them. We believe that they don't belong to any of these categories, but we can't say that we know for sure because we haven't asked these exact questions. I was curious about other swingers who like to donate blood, how they reconcile the ideal of providing truthful responses to the Blood Bank questionaire with the need to be respectful towards the couples they meet (and not subject them to an interrogation). Or, is society at large better off if active swingers simply refrain from donating? Any thoughts? Mr. Content

Or, is society at large better off if active swingers simply refrain from donating?

User Details are only visible to members.	I donate through work about twice a year. The last time was about a month and a half ago. The questions have changed every time we donate for the last 2 years. The American Red Cross Does a great job of informing the people who donate blood. The last time they were starting a new test that they said better at detecting certain diseases. Can not remember which ones it detected at this moment. Plus before you donate they give you the option to say "Do not use my blood" with a sticker. I have no worries about answering the questions in a truthful way. Besides the safe guards that I take, the Red Cross has 10 times as many safe guards in place to protect people. That includes the donor.

User Details are only visible to members.	Like I said before, the local Blood Bank here regards your playing as "sexual contact" even if you use condoms. For them, condoms or no condoms, it makes no difference. The problem about "telling the truth", which sounds simple enough, is that the truth often is "I don't know". One of the times I went to donate blood I decided to do that (tell the truth). So, for example, when we got to the question about whether in the last 12 months I had had sexual contact with somebody who "has ever, since 1977, exchanged sex for drugs or money?", I told the young nurse who was firing the questions at me "I don't know". This is after I had replied the previous 17 questions or so with the obvious "Yes" or "No" and it was looking like we would get done with the rest of the questionnaire in another 1.5 minutes, max. Now she was forced to pause. "What do you mean you don't know?" she asked. I say "Well, the truth is, I didn't ask her that specific question. My guess is that she hasn't done that, but it's only a guess". She notices my wedding ring and asks "but aren't you married?". Suddenly the tiny cubicle where we were sitting, a few inches from each other, felt even tinier and after replying with a tentative "yes..." I was at a loss for what else I should say (if anything). After a few uncomfortable seconds she added "...oh, I see..." (I have no clue what is it that see "saw"). We talked a little more, but I'm very private about our swinging and refused to elaborate on the circumstances of my occasional adventures, except to repeat that these are women that I feel comfortable with and I would be surprised if they have done the things specified in the questions. Finally she checked the answer as a "No" and we moved on. There were about 2 or 3 questions of this sort in the questionnaire. So I figure I should just answer "No" in the future and avoid the discomfort on everybody's part. The only thing is, if I do that then I'm not being 100% truthful. Being truthful would require an "I don't know" response. So what can an honest person do? Embarras young nurses? Decline blood donation to save the embarrassment? Give up the ideal of being 100% truthful (and put society at risk in the process)? That's why I was curious about how other swingers handle blood donation. Am I the only swinger how donates blood?

We say the school system so any employee of the school system or their family that needs blood has it.
