Robert:

1) The only way to get experience is to work. You can make all the excuses you want but that fact will never change.

2) Really? I've never worked in a factory. Several times, I have been paid MORE than my boss. Currently, I'm self-employed and pay for my own medical benefits. And I am no more responsible for war than you are.

3) Based on your posts, the lesson in having a work ethic was lost on you. No one owes you anything if you're not willing to work. A fair day's pay for a fair day's work--but you have to work.

Apparently, all you've learned is how to whine, how to blame your fear and lack of effort on others, and how to play the victim.

You are the only one who controls your future. Man up and take control.

" Instead of driving around that mine figuring out what works better in the fog, lights on or lights off...why don't you grab a fucking pick and do an honest days work for a decent wage..maybe it will clear the fog from your head and you will realize that there is more to life than bitching and moaning about how "the man" is keeping you down!!"

1) That pick? Yeah, it pays 10 USD/h for being an equipment operator... A job I can't do because I have depth preception... No employer will touch me. (then I also am lost some of my hearing operating equipment for the USAF.. More risk any smart employer would not accept... Both are documented with the VA... My current medical provider.)

2) Other jobs within the mine? Oh you mean the breaker? Yes, noise again and now black lung anyone? There is that whole risk vs rewards thing.

No pay raises, no medical, no educational benefits, no upward mobility within the company... No thank you. I'll just as soon learn what I can from my security company and start my own thank you very much. (if I must)

Oh and while I write books and eventually find an agent willing to represent me.

"This my generation, your generation crap is nonsense...stand up and be a man for fucks sake already. "

Men don't grovel for scraps, they set expectations and build strong nations. I'll work harder when I am provided the pay which commands such work. Until then, I work as hard as I am paid... and no one in Hazleton or the surrounding areas are paying unskilled inexperienced uneducated persons anything more than minimum wage or demand too much risk from said persons.

You people have the patience of Job. I admire you all.

I am a fiscal conservative. I am a tree hugging republican, imagine that. I fully support immigration reform, I am pro choice, I am absolutely pro gay, I am an atheist. I posted that earlier in response to another forummer in another topic. Only to read Bobby, less than five minutes later proclaiming: Conservatives on these forums are concerned with the environment and more drivel to completely contradict what I posted.

Someone like Robert, one day will one day face a serious wake up call. Maybe that will shake him up a bit and out of his dream world. I certainly hope so.

top:

1) I did put myself out there for work... No one wanted to hire inexperience... Oh and then there was that whole recession thing caused by people risking everything buying businesses and homes.... Without having the money to pay for it.

2) Yes you did lower your standards. You worked the factories and other places for less pay compared to the new bosses who raised their own pays. You accepted when the new bosses said they couldn't provide medical. You even put more wars on the nations credit card without accepting your responsibility to pay for them out of your own pockets with taxation.

You accepted a lowered standard of living... And never demanded better as you watched the bosses close one factory after another and sent them to other countries... where your bosses exploited the workers as they wanted to exploit you.

"My parents taught me the value of a good work ethic. Too bad your parents didn't teach you the same lesson."

Oh my parents did teach me the value of a good work ethic... They also taught me ethics. You don't get to demand work when you pay the minimum and do not provide pay raises or improved standards of living after a year.

They taught me the price of gambling by allowing me to gamble my earned money away in the churches fun fest.... Where I as a 10 year old burnt through 3 years of saved money.. (about 200 USD earned by doing chores and or cutting other peoples yards... as a small child not even out of the third grade)

So yes, I learned hard lessons as a child... Gambling is a losers game. You aren't likely to win and do not control the odds of winning.

I like Rule #5 - Get a second or third job! SLS will wait for you!

The feel-good politically correct teachings created a full generation of kids with no concept of reality, and how this concept sets them up for failure in the real word. To all kids any age. Rule 1: Life is not fair -- get used to it! Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself. Rule 3: You will NOT make $40,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both. Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping -- they called it opportunity. Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them. Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room. Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life. Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time. Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs. Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

I'm curious as to how you happen to be privvy to my mentality?

You make sweeping generalizations about people and generations and make far-reaching proclamations about every single employer not providing jobs of a level adequate to keep people from being enslaved. Do you honestly think that every single other person has somehow gotten a more fair bite at the world than you? Do you honestly think that every single job creator business owner is a greedy bastard looking to keep you down?

You're looking too hard at what others have. And you haven't a clue as to my mentality.

" Sorry, mine have set expectations of civilization upon the job creators..."

AND that expectation is to have them pay you tons of money to do nothing!!!

Instead of driving around that mine figuring out what works better in the fog, lights on or lights off...why don't you grab a fucking pick and do an honest days work for a decent wage..maybe it will clear the fog from your head and you will realize that there is more to life than bitching and moaning about how "the man" is keeping you down!!!

This my generation, your generation crap is nonsense...stand up and be a man for fucks sake already. I live 30 miles from you Robert, and I can say for a fact that the jobs and money are there to be made...and you won't have to sell your soul either...but you may have to actually work for it.

Your sense of entitlement leads me to believe there is no fucking way you grew up in the coal region...just not possible!!!

Robert, those that risk nothing gain nothing. That is a fact of the universe that will never change. You fear risk because you fear losing what meager existence you already claim to have. Honestly, you should be the one MOST willing to risk because you have the LEAST to lose. Mathematically, the odds are in your favor. Yet you hesitate. And because of that, you have already lost.

And you put way too much faith in a college education. Unless you have a professional degree like medicine or law, five years after graduation all degrees are worthless on a resume compared to experience. And the only way to get experience is to put yourself out there and work.

And I am quite impressed by your ability to tell me what my generation did during the 1980s. I'm sure when you were crawling around in diapers, you had a keen sense of what people of my generation were doing. We didn't lower our standards. We worked our butts off without whining and making excuses.

My parents taught me the value of a good work ethic. Too bad your parents didn't teach you the same lesson.

Jand:

"This generation crap is starting to piss me off. Robert- you and I are OF THE SAME GENERATION. "

Age wise? Maybe, but your mentality is that of a generation older... Shut up and obey. Sorry, mine have set expectations of civilization upon the job creators... They want government money to bail them out of bad situations, they want to live in a civilized society? They must provide more than what is legally the minimum.

"Your constant harping on what a shitpile my generation left you is just ridiculous excuse that isn't even factually accurate. I'm dealing with the same economy and labor laws and medical insurance issues as you are. WE ALL ARE. Bigger dumbasses than you have overcome more obstacles than are currently blocking your path. The only person in your way is someone from your own generation: YOU."

What the fuck do you not understand about me doing?

"I really do not know where you people think that I do not work to get out from my position in life? I work full time, I write stories which I am searching for magazines to sell the short stories to... Which will lead to my novels which I have submitted. I make and sell 3d models online. (sadly a waste of time vs writing.)"

I am applying my craft, it is the employers and the "job creators" Which aren't employing.

When you have people living 3, 4 times what their employees are making not hiring... They are living too large.

When you the employer complain about the minimum wage laws and how they force you to do anything... You are seeking to exploit your workers... That isn't a job maker worth their salt and ought not be listened to.

We don't demand much... We demand fair treatment and a civilized society.

A) That means medical for all. (minimum of a civilized society)

B) An education system that prepares all the students in it for selecting college classes... Not telling them to be happy with factory work like mine did. (such schools ought to have its school board disbanded and the teachers reviewed for effectiveness.)

C) That employers stop complaining about providing the minimums of a civilized society and start providing or expect to lose out to the federal government as it taxes them to provide for the masses that which is the minimum of a civilized society.

So if you don't like living in a civilized society... Please leave the western world for Afghanistan, I hear that they are great capitalist... Go build your capitalist dream world there and see how long you last before crying for the light of civilization.. Which is by the way more socialist than capitalist in nature.

I'm glad my step-kids who are the same generation as you do not share your dismal views on the world. Of course they made a huge effort to make their lives what they wanted them to be.
