Lol. Years ago I had a guy who helped me manage a couple of rental properties. In his spare time he made a few extra bucks finding deadbeats and serving them with lawsuits. He told me his secret for getting the person to come to the door, was having an official looking government envelope such as the ones social security checks come in. Then he would whip out the lawsuit papers tucked into his back. |

I once got a bulk mailing trying to enroll me in some book club. They insisted I reply even if it's a no. They gave me a reply coupon with two stickers. As best I can remember it, they said: YES! Enroll me in the book of the month club! Nope. Don't read much. Hurts my brain. |

Why does junk mail often include notices all over it like "To be opened by addressee only" or "Notice to Postmaster: Handle in Accordance with USC blah blah". As opposed to what? "This mail can be opened by anyone" or "Postmaster - do whatever the hell you want with this"? I've never received any serious mail with such warnings slathered on it. Only crap like credit card offers. Why? I'm not convinced the Postmaster see such warnings and treats my mail like he's delivering my Nobel Prize notification. |
