The fact that we have positioned ourselves to still use 1880's technology as our primary mode of personal transportation is a disgrace.
The gasoline fueled piston driven ECE should have been in the bone yard of obsolete technology decades ago. Make gas $10 a gallon, and watch it happen in a decade. |

Gas prices are expected to stay at or above that level until July. Reformulation IS NOT the main reason. The switchover to summer blend has already been done.
All you environmental types will love this- our 2 DFL senators are pushing for a relaxing of the formulation until July to ease the pain at the pump. Gas this high will be a serious blow to a lot of small businesses- especially the ones that rely on tourism. |

Part of the reason for the spike is that they are converting refineries to accommodate the reformulation for the summer blends. HA!

Today I paid $4.27/gal., 3 weeks ago I paid $3.26/gal.
"They say" it's due to a refinery shutdown for maintenance near Chicago. WTF? Illinois gasoline is $0.24/gal lower than MN, and they are the ones with the loss of a refinery?!?! 70% of MN's gasoline comes from 2 refineries in the Mpls./St. Paul area. Refineries in Mandan ND, and another one in Superior WI supply the remaining 30% of MN's gasoline. Only Hawaii has gasoline higher than MN right now. |
