Nah I liked it there. Summers about the same as here. Winters are about 10-15 degrees cooler. Typically January day would be high 50s. Sometimes into the 70s. One Christmas Eve it was 84. It snowed 3 times in 8 years I lived there.

VA sounds like it gets the worst of both worlds.

The heat and humidity doesn't bother me as long as I have air conditioning to retreat to indoors. I can ride my bike or play baseball all day in the heat.

One thing I find hilarious about Floridians is that they seem to think they have a monopoly on heat and humidity. Mrs VA's aunt got in our car (when we still lived in Virginia Beach) and wondered why we had air conditioning in it.

I've given up on explaining to Floridians that summers in Virginia Beach (and really, most of the low lying areas of the southeast) were basically the same as here. "But you didn't have the humidity!" they say. Um, yes we did. We lived in a swamp. We'd get those 125 heat index days where the water would be running down the windows of air conditioned buildings. I know what it's like. They don't believe it.

Also in the summer it is hotter than HELL! Add to that the 99% humidity... My "Job" requires me to wear long sleeve shirts, Jeans and boots, so when I step out of my front door at 4:45am I am sweating before even I get to my truck.

It's not all fun and games, just some of it.
