Part HT part WTF??? Hubby arrived in Canada only to be told by his company that he shouldn't meet with the clients he was there to see and to just fly home. So happy he will be home tonight but wtf is corporate thinking?

BT we've done it :)... right through US1 along the shore. Hubby works in Salinas on occasion so we get out that way quite a bit. It is one of my favorite places in the USA. We were actually looking for a retirement place in Monterey and Carmel a few years back.
Seattle, maybe Oregon, is a possibility. |

July is the best time to go to Seattle. They typically have their lowest amount of rainfall that month so you won't get soggy in Seattle.
You can visit Mount Rainier, take a ferry to one of the islands in the Puget Sound, go whale watching off the coast, and visit Pike's Place Market. At the Seattle Center you can visit the Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame and the Space Needle. It is one of the most beautiful cities and parts of the country I have ever visited. It is highly recommended. |

Sed, maybe a week+ long trip up or down the Ca coast between SF and SD, with time built in for stops in/at NPB, Disney, LA, Venice, Hollywood, Santa Barbara, Ojai, San Simeon/Hurst castle, Paso Robles, Carmel, Monterey, etc? You can hot air balloon and horseback ride in Napa with the kids. With two weeks, you could probably do some of the north coast too.
I did a modified version of this two years ago with my son. His favorite parts? The "silver pirate" on the Embarcadero and In N Out Burger, though he did think that the Monterey Aquarium was pretty cool. |

Been to Japan and Hong Kong NJ. But strictly for work. It's incredibly busy, way too busy for us.
Seattle sounds interesting. |

I know you said you hate hot temps Sed and it's abit far, but my brother just sent me a crapload of pics from his trip to Singapore for new years. The place looks beautiful and so damn clean for such a big city. Ever been to Asia?

Have you ever been to Seattle? It's not that hot. The views of the mountains and the Puget Sound are incredible. Great food, culture, entertainment.

We've been to Hawai'i, several times. Canada too. In fact, hubby and boys will be in Canada again in June, Rideau Lakes.
