@smooth - I'm talking about a regular kid walking around a normal, suburban neighborhood. A kid that maybe found his daddy's gun in a box under the bed and took it out to show his friends. I'm not talking about a kid walking through a security checkpoint in a war/terrorist zone.

I do understand that there are awful people that do awful things. I'm simply not a proponent of "shoot them all and let god sort them out" mentality. If there is a chance of a peaceful, or at least less deadly solution, then I believe that chance needs to be taken.

@rabbit. unfortunately we live in a world where sick twisted fucks will strap explosives to their 9 year old children and try to slip them past our security forces to try to get into as large a group as possible. it's a shitty deal but when it's the child or a dozen of your brothers, you don't have the luxury of concerning yourself with their age.

@ HFT - Why not shoot the mentally ill too? And minors! Hell, if a 9 year old is walking around with a gun they found a bullet to the head would teach them! What I can really get behind though is to have snipers take out the hatemongers. The good thing about them is they are pretty easy to spot.

Good, if any sniper is good enough to shoot a gun out of a criminal or terrorists hand, then the shot should be to the head. "Kill them all, and let God sort them out"

I've read "Marine Sniper" a gazillion times, but I have yet to read "American Sniper". I should have done that before seeing the movie.

IMO, Hathcock's shot straight through the tube of his nemesis' scope, has got to be the most amazing shot ever. Luckily the other guy's scope only had 2 pieces of glass in it.

i'm not sure why you would find that hard to believe. these days it wouldn't even be anything special.

it is also true that not all targets are green lighted for kill. the north viet namese taught us a few painful lessons. one of them being that a unit can often easily be rendered combat ineffective by only wounding two or three in their group. doing so requires their comrades to shift their focus from the mission to the care and transport of their wounded.

OK, here ya go. Same video, different narrator

youtube.c om/watch?v=AHvWaviIXsk

I like the first narrator's accent better. It was also pretty funny that the first narrator refers to the SWAT team members as "light infantry" and "army blokes". He did get it wrong though, it wasn't a .44 mag that was shot out of the gunman's hand, it looks like either a .38 special or a .357 mag.

Good, you are NOT for real, are you? Lets see the cop shoot the gun out of his hand again.

You're right, Good. When I lived in Ottawa a flamingo wandered all the way from Cuba to Ottawa. In the winter time. It was spotted and mistakenly identified as an egret, as it had turned snow white from lack of carotene being so far from home. It was then that I learned this about their coloration.

It was unfortunately found very weak a few days later on some ice in the Ottawa river, trying to eat crawfish. In spite of consulting with experts at the conservation in Cuba (from which it was tagged), it did not survive. It's stomach was badly damaged from eating lots of pebbles and sand.
