FB: people who bitch about mowing their yards while I looked at 2 feet of snow in areas of my yard, and a lake in the areas that weren't under 2 feet of snow as I left for work this AM.
OK so it got to 35 today, maybe the 2 feet melted and I now live on an island in a lake that shouldn't fucking be there. We shall see when I get home. |

While that certainly sucks, it's way worse to be flagged for audit.
Once you're flagged, they ride your ass forever. Revenue Canada (the Canadian version of the IRS) flagged us in 1998 and hounded us 5 times a year until their statute of limitations finally ran out in 2008. We were never wrong, not even once, but they bothered us forever, constantly threatening us with their IRS-agreement that they use to go after each other's tax cheats. We never even crossed the poverty line while in Canada..... who the hell knows why they bothered us for so long. Assholes. ASSHOLES, I say! |

This is going to sound like a really whiny bitch of the day, but just found out we're getting a huge refund. I'm so pissed off - I talked to our accountant last year about reducing the amount of quarterly estimated taxes we pay because hubby is retired, and we didn't end up reducing it by much. And guess what, that's the amount we're getting refunded - I would have much preferred having that money in my pocket last year, or in the bank earning interest, or invested, then lending it to the government interest-free. It's way better to have an interest-free loan all year and pay something on 15 April.
