So my daughter moved to Denver, 1200 a month for her apt. The roof was in the process of being repaired all this week. Last night it poured. Her ceiling is caving in, her computer ruined, Cell phones damaged and not working, brand new couch soaked and smells from God only knows what, shoes filled with water, clothes in closet soaked etc, etc. She has renters insurance but what a freakin mess. They haven't even lived their a freakin month!!!!!!!!!

"Did you see the news story about the woman who got worker's comp for an injury sustained when a light fixture fell off the wall int he hotel room she was fucking in and landed on her head? Because she was traveling for work, it was deemed a workplace injury."

If she was a porn star or prostitute, I could see that.

They are required by law to give two 15 minute paid breaks and a half hour paid lunch...

"They tell me that since I am on the clock during my breaks, it is a liability issue for me to walk around the block..."

Hey, if you get to stay clocked in while on your break, you probably shouldn't be bitching about it.

"If, while on a business trip, something happens to me, day or night, the company is liable."

The question is, would you pursue it? If it was something that was your own fault? If so, you are part of the problem.

It works the same in the USA, VA.

If, while on a business trip, something happens to me, day or night, the company is liable.

Why do I have a nagging fear that there may be something to that?

"If the applicant had been injured while playing a game of cards in her motel room, she would have been entitled to compensation," Justice John Nickolas said.

Mind you, that was in Australia. But still....

So hang on, aren't they liable if for example, you fall in their building as well?

It's like our clear desk & secure trash policy, we have people that are getting paid to inspect employee desks and trash!

WTF do they want you to do? Stare at the wall?

If you went out for a smoke, they'd probably be OK with that. Ask them if you can bring a bottle of scotch to work with you.

At my old-old job (2002-2006) we had a decree handed down that we weren't allowed to read on our breaks. This happened because a manager walked into a break room and said something to an employee, but the employee was engrossed in what they were reading and didn't notice the manager was talking to them. He became so angry and had the ear of the CEO, so it became corporate policy. For 2 years - no books, magazines, newspapers. No reading on breaks.
