"So you're assuming that she caused the fixture to fall because she was having sex, eh? so you envisioned this rowdy sex of her being banged against that wall, and the fixture falling off as a result...ummm

I'd say that the media did a good job :)"

I'm being quoted above by CC.

**"Believe me, I know the history behind that symbol. And yet, I cannot change the fact that when I see it, I immediately think, Nazis!"**

CC trying to tie to completely not comparable things in an attempt to back up his *opinion.*

**I'm not the only one that can succumb to conditioned thinking.

Regardless of why the light fell, it is not the companies fault. **

You can repeat that it's not the company's fault all that you want. That is not how it works. I understand your frustration with the careless lawsuits, I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm pointing out how things work. I also happened to think that, if you were required to travel for work, and you got hurt, the company SHOULD be liable. If she wasn't there, chances are good she wouldn't be hurt.

But now that, I read more detail about the case, we know how it happened ;).

VA, try to tell the full story next time.

Mrs.Sav,

I wasn't specifically discussing your daughter, that's why I used the city (as in NYC) as an example. I know where she moved. Of course it's all relative.

Expanding on my Snowden thought, it would seem to me that intellectual property is a hot button at certain levels of employment these days.

Tip toeing around what HR wants to say is smart office politics.

As for the $1,200 a month...

For people who live in SoCal, or cities like NYC, Boston, etc, that IS cheap.

Our daughter pays $950 a month for a 2 bedroom here in Chesapeake.

We paid $2,400 a month for a 3-bedroom in Albany, NY. 11 years ago.

Wildly different rent/housing prices exist in different parts of the country.

"If he's hurt in their office they're liable, as well."

THEY SHOULD'NT BE if he is doing something in the office that is beyond his companies control. I'm not talking about what the law currently is. I'm talking about what it should be. If he decides to pick up a heavy box in the office that he is not required to pick up and hurts his back, it should not be the companies fault.

If he's watching porn on the companies computer and gets all excited and has a heart attack, the company shouldn't be responsible.

"It may take a while, but the owner should take care of everything. In fact, he/she should put them up in a hotel because it doesn't sound as if the apt is habitable..."

You didn't hit a nerve I just found your comment as a person who has had time to potentially make more money than a 24 year old a bit ridiculous. Any cost is relative to how much you make. Some people wouldn't be caught dead in a 1200 a month apt because to them that would be slumming. To me and my income 1200 a month would be out of the question for rent right now. SED,I know they live in the city but Denver is not NYC . Their apt isn't 1/10 as nice as the apt we rented in St Paul for a few 100 more than they're paying. It was a 3bedroom 2 full bath ,had marble counters, a wine fridge, ceiling to floor windows and was about 1800 sq feet in a resort like complex with a weight room, sauna, tanning bed and a theater. Under ground parking with a car wash for Gods Sake lol. their apt is cute but has zero amenities, no parking and is a 1 bedroom cubby. Mrs Sav

"As to the women who had the fixture land on her head. How on earth did you deduce that she is the cause of the dropping fixture?"

One of them pulled it off the wall by accident.

Just wondering out loud if that Snowden kid took walks on his breaks *)

@mrs Sav you can't get there fast enough. I would think renters insurance covers hotel stay from day one and would supply vouchers if asked.
