When we first met them out, she was very well presented and he was reasonably well. At their house, he was about the same, and she looked like she'd just been on a weekend long bender.

Holly: There is an old proverb, “A stiff prick has no conscience.”
Vabeach: Obviously she took little pride in her presentation and everything around her, but what about him? Was he showered and groomed? I find looking at couples in clubs that she seems to take more pride in herself than he. It seems that your experience is the opposite. |

The couple we had met out previously and presented themselves well?
Well.... We arrived at their place. It was just nasty. She had absolutely not showered and was wearing dumpy sweatpants and a sweatshirt. There was crap everywhere. The kids were still there "our sitter cancelled". Mrs. VA stepped on a fork with food on it on the floor. It was just awful. We played cards for a short while and then left. We didn't have to tell them why we didn't stay long, or why we didn't want to meet them again. WTF were they thinking? |

I was chatting with a single man and he told me about arriving for a play date only to discover the woman hadn't showered, was wearing stained and sloppy clothes, and her home was filthy & cluttered. I asked, "how'd you escape?" And he told me he just left after they "fucked."
Seriously! I was disgusted and never met him in person. I've heard similar stories from other men and am amazed how many have sex anyway. |

We've experienced the entire spectrum - from being downright horrified to how people showed up (including people we've already met, and they were FINE last time I swear!) to being a little overdone.
Overdone is fine. A *little* underdone can be fine. A *lot* underdone - seriously? Aren't you trying to get laid? |

According to “Dressing for Success”, a required text for executives in many Fortune 500 companies to read, a person has only one opportunity to make a first impression. Miss that opportunity and your entire presentation has been compromised.
I enjoy people watching and I am surprised at how little preparation many people do before they come into a club. I am also amazed at the number of play dates who arrive with only some preparation in their grooming and overall appearance. Don’t they care about how they are being perceived or am I being overly critical? What have you experienced? |
