If that format were in place this year, ND would have played Oregon (and likely lost) and Bama wold have played Florida. The championship would probably have been Alabama/Oregon and we can only hope it would have been a more entertaining game.

There is a four-team playoff system scheduled to take effect in two years. It will resemble an SEC tournament. Occasionally some Big 10 or PAC team will sneak in as a token sacrificial lamb, strictly for amusement purposes.

It also proves once and for all the the BCS point system is a complete scam.
I stopped caring about college football years ago when it became apparent that the points system and ranking had more to do with selling advertising and merchandise than it did about talent and potential. What used to be an exciting game played by kids who wanted to be noticed by NFL teams and were willing to do whatever it took to get there has been replaced by teams thrust into the spotlight due to corporate sponsorship, back alley deals, and network ratings potential. |

Notre Dame was founded by the French... and the name "Notre Dame" actually means "our lady" in French.
JW- how the hell they can call themselves "The Fighting Irish." (BTW, I know the answer and it's stupid) The Fighting French this year are another example that there needs to be a playoff to determine the National Champion in college football. |
