You might not get Random House or Viking to do a book on Swinging... Unless it's what they want, IE written by a psychiatrist or psychologist and basically looking down it's nose on the scene and lifestyle... BUT- I am pretty sure there are some smaller publishers that probably would take a gamble on such a book written by a swinger from the inside out, talking about both the pitfalls and prizes of the lifestyle. I have more than a few books on odd topics from obscure publishers. Honestly, if you can find publishers out there who will print books on Anton LaVey (Ferrel House) and other unusual people or things there has to be some who would publish a book on swinging. There used to be a company that did a series of books called RE/Search I am thinking of in particular. They did one book called "Modern Primitives" and another on neopagans.

Lost ... I've always believed that it's best to go into anything new with as much knowledge as possible, particularly including the possible pitfalls to watch for. We didn't focus on the pitfalls, but we didn't ignore them either. And we Totally left out the slick, sweaty, naked bodies thrusting and moaning in dark rooms. LOL. Aside from private parties, the only positive interest that we've ever seen for it was from the person who copied it from the web and put it on Amazon as his own work. Simba... you self published? And paid for publicity and marketing? I'm happy that you have such deep pockets. We don't. How did it do, btw? I reiterate, publishers Don't Want an honest treatment. They want a torrid expose' with lots of sweaty sex because that's what sells Lots of copies to wannabees and horny SM's. unfortunately its not just vanilla publishing houses that are like this...many veteran swingers do not like it when an "unflattering" light is shed upon the lifestyle. I have actually been told in the past that I should not necessarily tell newbies the "down" side of the ls because it will discourage them.

Several years ago we started a Swingers-101 thing ("A Swingers Compass") of all of the things that we wished we'd known when we first got into the LS. Surprise...publishers Don't Want real info from real swingers. They want hot, sweaty bodies moaning and thrusting in dark rooms. We pretty much shelved the whole thing after our hundredth "Thanks for thinking of us, but no thanks". I think I need to write a humourous book about some of the misadventures I have had in swinging with fakes, flakes and phonies. The working title is "Did I Shave My Balls For This???"

Seriously though, I think some more swingers do need to think about writing books about the topic. I know I got a lot of good advice from the chapters about swinging from the book "Etiquette for Outlaws" as well as columns written by swingers in the adult film industry over the years like Christie Lake.

Yes, my book is about my own deepest, personal experiences, in swinging....from the very first date. I initially had some inner conflicts to work out in swinging, and hope others can learn from them... hence the title, "Doin One for the Team." It's written with a lot of humor, and although very informative, a lighthearted read.
