We take our Facebook-like policy to most websites: don't join groups, applications, etc. experiences show these are usually noisy and rarely relevant.
However, we noted on SLS that group invites can be made only once. That seems to make them a little more "exclusive" So, before we ignore all these invitations, can anyone share the good and bad of being part of an SLS group, please? |

Like on FB, same applies here, there are good groups there are not such good groups. I recently cleaned house and removed ourselves from all the flaky groups. You can join, scan to see if it's worth the stay, if not, leave.

As an owner of a group, I will say the advantages are you get invited to parties that you may not otherwise be aware of. The other thing about a group is, if you accept the invitation then decide that group isn't what you were looking for, you can always remove yourself. No harm, no foul.
I am not sure what you mean about only being able to accept an invite once, I believe if you pass on the invite, it can be extended again. If that isn't the case, then simply don't respond to the invite at all. That way it is still there for you if you decide to join later. |
