Go to a real sports medicine place...they will get you going asap

I went to one a few years ago for my shoulders.... saw an ex major league trainer. gave me all kinds of weird stuff to do mostly with small weights , rubber tubes and towels.. seems almost like voodoo.. but if I do the stuff my shoulders don't hurt and I have full range of motion

I (Steve) have shoulder issues when working out. What I have done is to make sure not to let my ego play a part in how much I load on them. I use light enough weight to work them out but not heavy enough to strain.

Unfortunately, I have learned this through the need to get cortisone shots into my shoulder joints.

Slow and keeping form vs reps in mind is the best route to take.

Are you able to visit a physical therapist? They can give you good exercises to help with range of motion & rebuilding muscle. Also, stuff with a dumbell & kettlebell on the good arm/shourlder can minimize atrophy in the immobilized limb. Stair stepping (up and down a box), air squats, and walking are all non-shoulder involved exercises.
