It's the flexibility issue (or lack of) by many of the males of the species. Especially those who have been involved with weight lifting. Yoga will help with flexibility. Don't worry about the "fluidity" of the workout - think more of just breathing and then getting towards the positions. That's why I'm doing yoga - increased flexibility helps in my workouts and decreases injuries. Not to mention some lifestyle positions LOL! -h

Mercy,

It's not a homophobic issue, my husband is anything but that. He's more of a body builder than anything else, Yoga is just awkward for him. For the same reason that tai chi is ;). He's perfectly comfortable with his Kung Fu training, yet Tai Chi is a challenge for him, clearly for the same reason as Yoga. The fluidity of it all I guess. He's a big dude who's been working out since the age of 14, in a stereotypical man's gym...;)

Even as a Personal Trainer, I can't instill the importance of flexibility in him.

"I wish that I could get my hubby into Yoga! it's just awesome."

See if you can find a place with all men classes. Even though I am in the lifestyle and see more ass, vagina and boobs than most men, I don't want to see all that when I'm exercising. That's my growth and gain time. All men classes allieviate that, plus the yoga is geared toward men and not mixed up. He'll get a better workout in a short time.

"mercy that is great!! but for individuals to look better they need both, diet n exercise. the thing with exercise is that it takes a lot of effort. but the results are very rewarding. mentally n phisically."

Agreed, and perhaps I should have stratified. Boosting the metabolism in the short term can be done by changing diet, eating habits, chemical imbalances, etc. At the point in which the metabolic rate reaches homeostasis, then exercise can give the metabolism another boost. Working in tandem, you can keep your metabolism high for a long time. I determined that I reached stasis with food two weeks ago and now that I'm toning and shaping with Yoga and mild lifting, my RMR is back on track.

Yeah, all those nudes painted hundreds of years ago showing curvy women (which would be considered overweight if not obese today) as EROTIC ART must be mistaken.

And all those profiles who say they like curvy women, all those songs about wanting women's big asses - yeah, they must be crazy. I don't see very many that say "I'm attracted to a beer gut on a man."

Just because *your preference* is for skinny girls, it doesn't make an entire class of men and women not exist.

I agree! And I'm glad that you stated it. There are attractive and not attractive both fat and skinny as well as in between. Women don't carry it better than me, or the other way around.

I applaud all the successes of those who continue to work at bettering themselves, whatever it takes to motive you to stay healthier, be it looking good to others, for the sake of feeling better, for the sake of enjoying life more! Know that you are doing good, first and foremost, for your own sake, and then for all those that are around you. Loving yourself is never a bad thing!

Wives play a part in how the husbands look as well. I hope wives in the LS take a step back and assess their husbands in a way others will - and vice versa. Your spouse looks great to you, make sure your spouse looks great to others as well.

The pictures of me and my wife that you see are three months old and we are both a lighter and more toned. We've been relentless in driving each other to be healthier and eat better (because that is what will really drop with weight - exercise has less of an effect) and exercise because we now know that looking good to others is what counts in this lifestyle.
