I am hooked on the Insanity workouts and tend to do them in boxer briefs while watching TV at the same time. It's comfortable and saves on laundry but has led to a few awkward moments when an afternoon delivery arrives (can see through door windows).

When I run, I usually wear as little as possible. It has less to do with impressing and more to do with limiting laundry (there's a theme here) and getting a tan at the same time.

@Cougar....oh, when I was in Hedo years ago, I worked out outside there. They may have a fitness center by now and my good friend has a brother who has an outside gym in Barbados. You should see those weights. They are like something from the stone age but fun.

@Cougar: Do you! Listen, I am OCD and am almost always viva glam. That's just how I am. If I ever get to your area, I am going to hit you up to see how you REALLY get down...LMAO

@Blt2 I guess all I can say to that different strokes for different folks. I mentioned earlier that I workout outside mostly and alone and It is really hard for me to either disgust or impress myself lol

When I was a "newbie" to the gym scene in New York, there were certain gyms that were like pick up spots and it probably persists today. It's no secret that a lot of people made hook-ups at the gym. Some even married and had long-term relationships and it didn't have much to do with what someone was wearing. We had the hardcore training mentality in common which is a very strong bond -- you trained the same, you at the same and in a lot of cases you fucked and fucked a lot. As far as chatting up is concerned, the circles I rolled in, you didn't chat in the gym, you trained and trained hard. We were competitors from the amateurs to the pros. I still have that mentality. Even at my PF in Vero, if I ask someone in a nice way can I work in with them, they usually say yes, mostly the men because they are often the ones pressing what I press or using the machine I need. I am in and out. I see people who stay in the gym for hours and hours and they look exactly the same way -- no progress.

heh. i am of two minds on this. i go to the gym to work, and work hard.

so i dress in gym appropriate attire (although my PF doesn't allow midriff baring attire, rolling my eyes) and when i am there, my focus is on the work.

i see all ends of the spectrum: sloppy/gross to "gym bunnies" made up & barely legally dressed, and hey--difft strokes for difft folks. i am there strictly to work out. so much so that i have missed out on some obvious (now that i am older, in retrospect) attempts to pick me up/chat me up.

and that's okay. i don't like to mess with one of the places i go to de-stress and relax.

@Charlie aka Cougar: I totally disagree and had this dispute with one of my trainers back in the day who thought that just because I came to the gym Viva Glam that I wasn't prepared to not only train but train hard. He was totally wrong and soon found out. I ALWAYS go to the gym looking and smelling fresh, not overbearing with perfume but always groomed. Just because someone looks sloppy doesn't mean they're more serious. My saying used to be I always wanted to be ready for a photo shoot.

OT: It's like when I see women, especially single women, who claim they don't want to be single, going to the store with rollers and/or slippers or pants that look like PJ's. What's up with that? And then they complain they can't meet anybody. Whatever.
