I think there is no need for dieting the bottom line is :
1. eat less
2. exercise more
The diets really do work and help lowering few pounds but its hard to maintain. Once you hit the plateau adjusting the basic caloric intake is needed. For me at this dont work. I just go hungry all day and I don't like it..so I keep the current caloric intake and up the physical activity. Keep in mind the more muscle you build the more calories you burn.

Paleo is a modified version of Atkins, without the ketosis unless you do something called "The Whole 30" (people in my gym who do it, I can tell, they have keto breath/sweat, it stinks).
------------------------------------
I remember that from my Atkins days....Dragon Breath I called it. (no offense or relation to @Kind ...LOL)

That's what I like about most of Paleo over Atkins, better carb intake, although I still love a shot from the Redi Whip Can now and again! LOL

SVC - what about Zone? I haven't done much homework on it yet, Box Dad was a big Zone guy, moreso than Paleo.

thank you. :)

for once I don't have all the symptoms. lol. but I do have some.

I'm going to aim for 100g of carbs and a little more of protein. That will be easier actually. thanx again for all that info.

"70 g CHO is probably NOT enough. Average human body runs more efficiently with about 150 g CHO per day (not 70 g). When I work with women w/ PCOS or metabolic syndrome, the recommendation I use is 45 g CHO per meal."
----

Well I like that better too. :) ty SVC

...what is CHO short for? PCOS? and what exactly is metabolic syndrome?

@south - Thanks! I will certainly try lowering my protein to 100. That'll be easier for me to achieve, I think.

I don't think I could do a ketogenic diet. I'm already struggling right now with finding things to eat. I don't know what to eat instead of a starch (bread, rice, pasta, etc). I can only eat so much salad and veggies a day. :( I already have 2 salads a day right now.

Once I can exercise regularly again, I won't feel like I have to control my food intake so much.

Buy Ezekiel cereal, you might not want more than half a cup! lol. I actually like Ezekiel bread, but only have a slice on some days. I think I mentioned earlier I was hungry this week too. But for the most part, I've been fine with my appetite. I have read zillions of things on the most filling foods so maybe I'm doing that right. Look up filling foods, see if you're eating enough of them. And are you eating every 3 hours or so? (meal or snack)
You can't stay hungry all day, that's awful and may trigger a binge or bad choice. I can't let myself get hungry, I cannot be trusted like that yet. lol. Do you like nuts or seeds?

@kind - I KNOW!!! I basically can't eat cereal. I was always a fan of granola type cereals and those are 40+ grams of carbs for like a half cup. And who the h*ll eats only a half a cup of cereal?!

For the most part, yes, my new way of eating is working great especially combined with an hour of exercise 3-5 days a week. I know it's probably not enough, but it's what I can manage.

I am just really struggling with being hungry all the time recently. It's a constant fight with myself NOT to eat. And I can only eat so many celery and carrot sticks before I wanna barf. LOL
