I wouldn't recommend that to someone who has never worked out before. She's only been at it for 3 months. In my experience, dealing with people like Kind, working out as intensely as you described makes them burn out and quit.

I do agree on HIIT.

30-60 minutes cardio a week is not going to do a thing for you. Furthermore, it's how you do it, how high you bring your heart rate etc that counts.

Muscles don't eat fat.

Muscle in its resting state is like an engine that's idling, it burns calories for fuel so to speak. The more lean muscle tissue that you have, the more calories you burn.

Yes, my workouts are mostly with weights. They are 3 super sets of 2 exercises, 3 reps of each. Sometimes they include crunches, lunges, planks and are without weights. Different every week, just the same muscle groups on the same days. My cardio on the 3 other days is mainly walking fast and increasing running on treadmill, and pool aerobics.

Adding walking can't hurt. Perhaps 45 minutes 5-6 days a week is not enough. I didn't know muscle weighs more than fat, I guess that must be happening a little. Its getting harder to stay motivated without seeing significant results though
