I'm sure a thread exists but I'm too lazy to look and resurrect it.;

I have been taking the "everything I can find and put it in a blender" approach to my morning smoothie but wanted some input from you fitnes experts. Here is what I am using now, tell me what to add or cut out.;

One cup almond milk, a cup of frozen berries, 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/4 cup oatmeal, 1/4 cup granola, 1/4 cup frozen spinach, a scoop of whey protein and some V8 fusion to liquify it a bit and add flavor.

Might sound a little gross but it gives me good energy:

1 big apple 6 stalks of celery 3 cups of raw kale 2 tablespoons 100% Hershey's cocoa 1 scoop choco muscle milk 1/2 tea spoon cayenne pepper 3 cups 2 percent milk a bunch of ice

Makes quite a bit so I sip it all day.

NJNY: just another part of living a healthy life. Plus it also seems to be so much quicker throwing stuff into machine. Must be a guy thing.

I have been washing my kale and then freezing it to add to my smoothies. It keeps it from going bad, and the smoothie texture is much improved. I can also use the stems, which does not always work well in my Ninja.

Watermelon rind sounds kinda nasty but I don't guess we are doing this for taste.

i lost custody of the blendtec in the divorce (haha!) so it is taking me some time to re-stock with gadgets.

bought a ninja a few weeks back and haven't made the time to shop yet.

i like blending rather than juicing--the fiber is valuable IMO.

wow on the watermelon rind.

YD, why juice? you're in great shape! unless you're thinking of detox juice.

"Fat Sick & Nearly Dead"--Joe Cross's story, is a good documentary. he's releasing "part two" soon as well.

As far as adding protein I use plain greek yogurt. As far as juicing vs blending well that is a bit of a different discussion than juicing vs a nutribullet. Everyone seems passionate about their choices, but I wold do some research before buying a device. A nutribullet also breaks the cells of the veggies in the same way. The fibre content both soluble and insoluble are key for digestion and keep in things moving. Also consider the nutritional content in watermelon rind (natural viagra BTW), bananna peel, citrus peel, etc. Its all good for you, but honestly I think the super "blenders" are the way to go. Watch the infomercial on TV its on all the time. Dr. Oz promotes the nutribullet option although I think he is a super quack.

Ring2s: appreciate the insight. Yeah blender is good but I thing it may be time to step up to something a bit more capable.
