And onward into 2015!

I started with the Inaugural Disney Star Wars 1/2 Marathon Weekend with the Rebel Challenge. The 10K on Saturday (followed by a day in the park walking around to keep loose) and then Sunday morning completing the 1/2 Marathon. Not really easy...since I hadn't done much jogging the past nine months (had to stop in May then had back surgery in June). Maybe a 2 mile jog here and there (i.e. every couple weeks) and one 3 mile trail run training session last month. It was slow (both) and now painful (left hip bone feels bruised) but no blisters, no rashes, no shin splints. And I have my first Run Disney Bling! Maybe next year I'll actually train for this event. Then getting a couple PRs will be easy even if I stop for pictures (again and again). LOL!

Thanks for the kind words njnybiwfemme! Unfortunately a family emergency this morning has dictated that we leave the Big Apple. But someday we'd sure like to come visit you... :)

Mrs Smith won the lottery to get into the NYC Marathon tomorrow! Think good thoughts for her. It's gonna be cold and windy...

Wife and I had a good race in Juneau. Despite some thigh pain, wife took 2nd in the women's masters division and I took 1st in the mens masters division. Rainy, foggy and temps slightly over 50. Very hilly course, but similar to running in WV.

Next up for us is a double weekend: a 25k trail race in Vermont and the next day a half marathon in Maine. Thinking we will run the trail run so we can race in Maine. If the crowd looks soft, we may switch things up.

Good luck. We ran New Orleans a few years back and enjoyed it. Roads were in rough condition but the post race field was a nice place to collapse into a few beers.
