BLT, i agree. the reason i do enjoy working out (regularly) is because when i amp it up a bit, i definitely see results. i'm not talkin ripped competition level, but enough that i notice new lines & delineation regularly enough to keep me motivated.

and that's not being OCD about it, just persevering and keeping it up nearly every day.

hafta say with as much as my circumstances made it nearly impossible to get in as much working out as i like or wanted, i still managed to maintain a pretty decent level of fitness.

now that the dust is mostly settling, it's amp it up time.

IMO: Results = Motivation. There is nothing like busting your ass, let alone starve which is totally not good, and have nothing happen. That leads to frustration, which leads to saying what the fuck and go on a binge of overeating or not working at all. Believe me, I've done it all.

i truly enjoy working out. trouble is, letting the tyranny of the "shoulds" interfere with making my fitness a priority.

september: a lot of people use this month as a sort of second chance new year's rez and i will be doing the same. will start off with a juice fast beginning later this week after getting in the raw ingredients i need. already started on the "no excuses there's always time & ability to fit *something* in" as related to movement & conditioning.

physical health has got to be at or near the top of the "shoulds".

Yon,

I could not agree more with you and it is all about personal responsibility and choices.

Up to the age of 35, my motivation was women. Since then it is health and pride in my appearance.

Not being fat is my biggest motivation. I see people 20 years my junior huffing and puffing on the DC Metro Escalators when they are out of order (common occurrence if you know the DC Metro). I'm sorry but life style choices are no excuse of such bad health. My two cents so take it as you will.
