So do what he said, your stomach is not going to blow up if you don't work it directly during your recovery.

This morning he said I can resume "normal" activities. I asked about working out he said light weights, NO abdominal work (sit ups, crunches) or anythng that puts excess strain on the abdominal wall. I just want something I can start doing now that I can increase as I feel better.

If your doctor told you not to workout, you don't workout.

Thanks, guess I'll start with bike, light upper body work and slowly introduce more as the pain and swelling subside.

Not sure, since abs are a key part of your core. Any thing involving movement uses your core in some way. Any lifting, pushing or pulling against any resistence - you instinctively contract abdominal muscles (I hope).

Start with walking, low resistance bike, row, etc.

Light weights added gradually for lifting. Listen to your body. Don't advance too quickly.

Two weeks after my hernia surgery and being told I cannot do ANY abdominal exercise. What can I do to work my core without stressing the abdominal cavity?
