Jax, I've had knee issues since the age of 17 when I fell and dislocated my knee cap. Been living with it since then. It's not always an age issue.

Thanks Peg and Rings!

Peg - I've been progressively modifying and scaling work with my knee. it's getting better and the pain after the fact is lessening, but still nagging.

It's primarily a lack of cartilage (from surgery 15 years ago) so it's not ever going to get better (short of a replacement) so I have to learn to manage the movements that aggravate it and minimize the pain.

Currently using MSM/Glucosimine(sp?), gonna look into the others mentioned.

Chi Seed has been great in regards to fiber for me. It is natural. You can read about on the internet.

Hi, Photoartist; another welcome to the forum.

IB20, I just happened to pop in here, but I would have to think that if those movements are causing you that much pain, you need to find a modification or eliminate the move altogether. It has to be causing further damage to the knee. Maybe back off, try some supplements, and see how it goes. I happen to swear by MSM for my joint pain. I have also had my dog on it for many years. At 12, she runs around like a puppy; the few times I have forgotten to give it to her for a few days, she slows down considerably. The same happens to me should I skip it.

I have also had phenomenal results with a treatment called prolotherapy. It is ridiculously expensive, as it is not covered by insurance, but it saved me from back surgery and literally restored me to a normal life. It also works on knees. You can google it. It also helped me recover this Spring from an injury this past Spring.

PhotoArt - don't be surprised. We have threads that start talking about socks and end up talking about hosiery! LOL

It was a sad day...financially had to do it, last real valuable asset I had at my disposal during a dire time.

Oh sheesh! I'm sorry to hear that IB20. That sucks. ON the other hand, I would have loved to have purchased the stuff from you :).

Crunchy knee syndrome sucks. I've lived with it since the age of 18.

Photoartist - thanks for the advice. I hate that noise when going up the steps...LOL

Also, you ladies and your camera porn! :-( I Had to sell my D300 last year, that and my lenses, including my beloved Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 - It broke my heart!

But I'll get another one someday!

Thanks Nekkid,

I do eat my vegetables and some fruits. I don't think I was that irregular, but I'm liking the effect of the fiber at night program.

As far as the knee, I haven't been locking knees for awhile, that has been painful pre-Crossfit.

I've stopped the hard impact Box jumps and my running style has changed to more of the soft, ball, forward leaning style. Running has never really been a problem (other than I hate it!).

I've started rolling above and below the knee before workouts, wearing a soft brace and then icing after - seems to be helping so far.
