Assuming you know about about potassium and sodium. My guess would be you should probably supplement some with Magnesium and its good buddy calcium. I've had ab cramps so I know exactly what you are talking about and they hurt like hell.

I normally do incline sit-ups (or whatever - basically I'm going uphill) . A warmup set of 24 and then 4 sets of 16 with a 35 pound plate held under my chin.

If I do more I become prone to cramping of my ab muscles at random times. Lying in bed etc. but especially if I bend over to pick something up off the floor or put socks on. It happens very fast and almost makes me fall on the floor, a bit dangerous if the thing I picked up is a dumbbell.

Suggestions to avoid this?!!

The secret to abs (besides loosing weight) is heavy weighted ab exercises. 5million crunches are trumped by 15-20reps weighted reps where you go to failure.

My ab workout is: Decline situps with a 75lb dumbell in each hand (20-25reps), Roman chair with 30lb dumbbell between my ankles(15-20reps). Ab crunch machine to failure at 12-15 reps. Hanging leg raises with 10lb ball between my ankles(10-15 reps), Hanging windshield wipers.

Chair and and hanging exercises with STRAIGHT legs and usually 3 sets of each and I do that twice a week.

My abs still elude me, and my weight has not budged outside the 202-206 range for weeks, but I must still be dropping fat. My 32 inch waist jeans can now easily be slid off without unbuttoning them. If I end up buying a 31 inch waist pair, it'll be the first one I've ever bought myself, since my Mom was buying my clothes the last time I could wear 31 inch jeans. Maybe age 15?

FHTOTD: the new power cord - don't hafta remember to disconnect & chill, just flip the rocker switch & wipe down the machine for next time.

my FHTOTD is: muscles have memory. it's wonderful the way they jump right back and after a day or two of cranky muscles, it's workouts as usual. i love the human body, it's such a miracle in action.

Speaking of the Olympia event in Las Vegas.....

Can't compete this year in the Rhino Crossfit Championship (placed 8th last year) because of my recent back surgery, but I'm going to help judge the prelims & finals on Saturday. Free admission and opportunity to walk around the expo floor during the break. Crazy event, tons of muscles, and lots of protein powders (sorry, but *ick*) all over the place.

FHTOTD: 10 more minutes of cardio then time to switch to squats plies crunches and yogahhhhhhhh

might've programmed too enthusiastic a course. but i ain't aquittin'.

Hoping my ortho doc pronounces my foot/tendon/ankle "cured" on Friday so I can resume my runs. In the meantime, I am increasing my pool time...much less chance of injury.
