I really have been studying weight loss and nutrition for months now and sometimes I am more confused then before. Everything I read, (and perhaps I read wayyy too much) says something different. Supplements: I'm looking for supplements that aid in general health and aids in weight loss. i could care less about how big my muscles get. I finally decided to go with what the last thing I read (Food Matters) suggests: -A high potency Multi-Vitamin & Multi-Mineral -I cannot find out what 'high potency' means. -Vitamin C as Ascorbic Acid. Essential Fats: For omega 3 this means either flax seed oil capsules or the more concentrated fish or krill oil capsules providing EPA and DHA. -Probiotics My trainer suggested -Green Tea Extract with 2 meals a day. Do these sound right? Any others to consider, and when is it too much?

My family recently noticed I now have forearm and calf muscles, and are very proud of me. LOL! I do care somewhat, and am looking forward to seeing more someday... right now all they do is hurt, but are still invisible.

User Details are only visible to members.	BTW, "I could care less how big my muscles get" is something you should care about somewhat. Muscle is more dense but smaller than a fat, and its an "active" cell. It burns calories. More muscle allows you to eat more and not gain weight (yeah!). But, I'm guessing you know that already. Just don't worry about looking like the girls in Oxygen magazine. They do much more to acquire that look than 99 percent of us are willing to go through. You don't get that big/cut/athletic without 4-6 hours in the gym, a very strict diet, a lot of cardio, very comprehensive supplementation, and good genetics. Even then, they don't look like that for very long after the contest/photo shoot. you should be more worried that jumping up and down too much will make you short. :) Sorry if I'm being "preachy".

User Details are only visible to members.	Have you had your blood work done as part of your annual physical? That information can also lead you to some additional supplementation. Also, is water retention/weight gain a problem? Are hormone levels, etc all normal?

User Details are only visible to members.	I would take a piece of grilled pineapple with a drop of balsamic vinegar over anything with honey in it. I hate Baklava...My weakness is Turkish delight, (Rahat Lakum we call it here) so I just never buy it.

User Details are only visible to members.	lol, I never thought of adding coffee to my chocolate milk. I've been a real big coffee drinker, and absolutely love the hazlenut creamers. Since I'm off them, I just add a stevia to it. I call it, 'making a freshly brewed cup of coffee taste like its 3 days old and burnt'. lol So I'm down to just a few cups a day which is good really. I thought I heard that about frozen, thanx for confirming that! I ran out of fresh veg yesterday and threw in a package of mixed veg to quinoa and chicken breast. I didn't even cook it, just let it defrost and get warm, ...Told the family to chew alot. lol. I think my biggest achievement in this journey has been, finally coming to realize ...that my food is not something that is supposed to be making me happy! In my experiments I'm finding some good stuff, but, for the most part, it's okay if I don't love it. It's just fuel for my body, nothing to do with happiness. I'm grateful for this revelation ....even if it took me a half a century for it to click.

User Details are only visible to members.	Regarding produce. Fresh from farm to table in <48 hrs is best but not always feasible. When you can, check out local farmers' markets for stuff picked that morning. Second best is frozen. Yup! It's blanched & flash frozen within hours of harvest, locking in most nutrients. Steam or microwave with minimal added water (unless you are using the cooking water to make a gravy/sauce). Worst is canned (sodium is used as a preservative). A little bit of coffee isn't bad (and may have some health benefits). Just watch what goes into the coffee. I put a little chocolate milk in mine (but it's my post-workout beverage with 4:1 carb:protein, so I guess you can say I add coffee to my chocolate milk). mrs svc
