Yohimbine has a low therapeutic index, meaning that the range between an effective dose and a toxic dose is very narrow. Yohimbine will abruptly raise blood pressure and is ill-advised for anyone with high blood pressure, treated or not. Neither a PDE-5 inhibitor (like viagra) or a vasoconstrictor (like yohimbine) should be used without a full understanding of risks and side effects. The study described below used relatively young rats. The responses of young rodents are not those of middle-aged humans. Caveat emptor. |
