Unfortunately, athletic events carry risk. Real risk. Goes for crossfit and for 'regular' gym. I have seen people drop 40 pound dumbbells onto feet. 225 lbs onto their chests. Shouldn't happen, but does.

One of the first things one learns in martial arts training is how to fall, how to take a punch etc. Building those reflexes are essential for safety.

Since I have never done Crossfit generally (or box jumping in particular), is there ordinarily training in how to 'fail safely' at whatever maneuver is being attempted?

Hope the woman does okay.

Today I witnessed a horrible accident at the Crossfit station (room). I walked in to speak to one of the instructors, and waited for him to finish with 3 people, that were doing circuit training. They were doing box jumps (42"). I watched, as one woman jumped, missed, hit her chin, and literally broke her jaw. I was horrified, ran out and got the front desk to get help.

I've seen lots of accidents in the gym during training, but this topped it for me. I thought that even though I pulled my back the last time I tried getting involved in CF, I'd still return. Not happening after this.

Gym for me, normal training.

Annie always gives me a bum rash! Nothing like Annie coming up on a Friday before a play-date or night at the club...can we say "um, don't look at my ass!" LOL

Yup, survived DT at 95 lb but wasn't pretty. Almost 2 min slower than 85 lb. Damn Hang Power Cleans (other movements unbroken).

Did Annie and gave myself 1 hell of a raspberry rash on my butt (really stung in the shower).
Annie: 50-40-30-20-10 Double Unders & ab mat situps.

SVC - you saw my DT - ugh, only 105, but with the ankle and all I guess I can't complain.

Legs were very tired last night. But feeling okay this morning, so I survived the 7.5 miles + WOD.

Haven't decided what I'm doing for Sunday Funday at the gym yet. Maybe just work on skills. Maybe try DT, last time I did it was 85lb. Rx for women is 110 lb, can't do consistent Hang Power Cleans at that weight. We're suppose to train for unbroken now. Pretty sure I can do 95lb.

Let's see what others are thinking about.
