Okay this is interesting. This was an article on AOL health about over doing it (which will never be a problem of mine...lol). Apparently these added cortisol levels EXPAND your waist line.

"Nice slow jog, out in the park, enjoying the outdoors, check. Compulsive running? Don't add that to your list. One form of compulsive running is called exercise bulimia, a form of exercise whose main purpose is to purge the body of unwanted calories rather than to build fitness and health. High-intensity exercise, done repeatedly and compulsively, has no joy in it. It also raises cortisol, a stress hormone that shrinks an important part of the brain involved in memory, and expands an important part of the body involved in looking good -- your waist. Never was the expression "moderation is key" so appropriate. "

The only problem with compulsive exercising as the article noted is the increase in cortisol in your body. It's extremely destructive with time. I have done a lot of research on coritsol in the body, ever since Mr. Sim's body no longer manufactures it. You have to have it to live, but too much breaks down your kidneys and liver and shortens your life span....and as the article said it increases your waist line. Luckily as you said.. .I don't think there is a epidemic on this one. LOL

im guessing that "compuslive exercise" affects a very small small percentage of americans!!
