Original Starting post for this thread:
What is an acceptable time between the first E-mail and the first meeting in person? If we are contacted and like what we see we are ready to meet. If we say how about today then people seem to get spooked and run away. Aren't we on here to meet people? Maybe we seem to eager. I don't know what the etiquette is we definitely don't want to offend anyone.

The etiquette for first meeting face-to-face is whatever your mutual schedules permit. Don't let this turn into an anxiety attack.

It could be the next evening or the next week. Emily Post is not involved. People are busy and swinging does not usually consume their entire lives.

If you connect by email on Monday, you might not be able to meet until Friday or Saturday. If you connect on Friday, that night or Saturday might work out for both.

We don't really meet people out one-on-one anymore, but if you're interested in meeting that night, you could say "Well, I realize this is short notice, but we're free tonight. If that doesn't work for you, we can do another time."

If you simply present tonight as an option, rather than a proposition, you're less likely to come off as pushy.

As for time frame for meeting people - we used to say that if 2 weeks passes after initial contact, chances are, we'll never meet them (except possibly by chance).
