Who work in porn. No, not the actors and actresses, I mean the cinemetographers? How many times have you been watching a porn film and been amazed at just how oblivious the camera maestro was, when he cut away from the action, or the attractive body of the star and shot footage of the cheap hotel picture on the wall or whatever? I got to thinking about this the other day when watching a compilation DVD which was supposed to be about bosomy blondes. About half way through the compilation it basically went to what seems to be about half of an old late 80s porn film that was pretty much scant of blondes or bosomy for that matter. As a bachelor I have seen my fair share of porn, but whoever the cameraman on this one was had to have been on crack or downers when he was shooting the scene. Not only did he manage to miss the MOI (moment of insertion) he also managed to miss the Money Shot! He wound up shooting the actors face instead. Of course you could tell from the rapid motion of the dudes shoulder that his hand was doing the five knuckle shuffle. All that work wasted for nothing thanks to a clueless porn cameraman. Over the years I have seen a lot of this, to the point where it makes me wonder. Why don't the people in the industry have a training program? I know from reading biographies that some porn editors and cameramen are veterans from striaght hollywood who sometimes shoot porn to make ends meet, often under assumed names. And there are a handful of current editors and directors who specialize in porn and are actually very talented. The director of "Dark Angels" being a good example- he's actually bettert than many mainstream directors. You would think though that some of the production companies would come up with a five day training program to teach these folks the basics. For example, when the dude is paying attention to the chicks' feet, dont' cut away to the pumping genitals shot. You are gonna get plenty of that anyway and you will annoy the people in the audience with a foot fetish. When the actress has a spectacular body, don't film the back of the dude's knee. Film the lady writhing around in pleasure and show off her remarkable assetts. When the actor and actress both have remarkable bodies, pull the camera back and show them off, don't cut them off at the knees or head. If the lighting isn't great, use more light, etc.... Honestly, as a veiwer I always hated it when a really attractive actress was doing a scene completely nude and for whatever reason the camera guy focused on the dudes elbow! Shouldn't there be some basic training program for aspiring pornographers?
