Here we go with the WMD thing....

Let me put it to U this way...It is a fact he used chemical weapons against the Kurds (that is a WMD). it is a fact that he played games with the IAEA as well as the whole civilized world and made a conscious effort to make us think he had them. So basically he was a neighborhood bully and the biggest kid on the block kicked his ass....he had it coming...he's dead now...and it didn't have to be like this just look at Lybia.

So, Gramm was instrumental and that legislation passed during a time both houses of the US legislature were dominated by who?

Point for me.

BTW, I welcome someone with a bit more knowlege than the usual shills here...

With respect to the inference you appear to make, nothing excuses W's blatant disregard of the UN inspectors' report concerning the LACK of WMDS and capacity to produce same during the period you cite to include that just prior to US invasion. The IAEA confirmed the reports and it is manifestly clear British intel could not support (putting things mildly here) W's statements to the contrary.

Phil Gramm was instrumental in getting the bill passed, but the bill passed the Senate 90 to 8. (And only one senator registered as not voting. Any guesses on who the non-voter was? You got it: John McCain!) It passed the House 362 to 57. This was not a squeaker by any stretch.

And the hole gets deeper.....

Ever heard of the Iraq Liberation Act

The Act found that Iraq had between 1980 and 1998 committed various and significant violations of International Law, had failed to comply with the obligations to which it had agreed to following the Gulf War and further had ignored Resolutions of the United Nations Security Council. The Act declared that it was the Policy of the United States to support "regime change." The Act was passed 360-38 in the U.S. House of Representatives [2] and by unanimous consent in the Senate. [3] US President Bill Clinton signed the bill into law on October 31, 1998. The law's stated purpose was: "to establish a program to support a transition to democracy in Iraq." Specifically, Congress made findings of past Iraqi military actions in violation of International Law and that Iraq had denied entry of United Nations Special Commission on Iraq (UNSCOM) inspectors into its country to inspect for weapons of mass destruction. Congress found: "It should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime." On December 16, 1998, President Bill Clinton mandated Operation Desert Fox, a major four-day bombing campaign on Iraqi targets.

So this is all W's doing?

The proposed Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999 would do away with restrictions on the integration of banking, insurance and stock trading imposed by the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933....U do realize who the president was then?
