And your reference to the past 8 years of Republican post election numbers being a negative 4% is very misleading. The Clinton recession started in the middle of his last term and was well under way when Bush was first elected. This was also made worse by the 911 attack and the bursting of the tech bubble, neither of which can realistically be blamed on the Republicans. By the end of Bush's first term, the economy was strong. In fact, it was stronger than the peak of the Clinton years.

If Obama wins the market will drop because everyone will sell to avoid the upcoming capital gains tax increases. The smart money will buy in January and hold it for four years. Why four years??? Because Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and company will screw things up so bad they will be tossed out in 2012 and the incoming Republicans will lower the CG taxes back to present levels or possibly even lower.
