Also, try some of the Cherise Sinclair books (Masters of the Shadowlands) or Dom's Dungeon. More romance than the Marketplace, but probably better for a beginner to get some ideas of rules and behaviors.

I have sent you the invitation. Anyone who wants the newsletter will have to ask. Mail to Jason685 your request. I don't know how you can find easily otherwise. The newsletter is BDSM + Swing = More Fun. It is nine issues so far geared toward beginners and the curious. For us, bdsm has been life changing. And that is no exaggeration. We are happy to help others discover and/or refine it. Some more books. These are fiction series. The Sleeping Beauty Series - by Anne Rice Erotic fantasy filled with bdsm - 3 books. The Marketplace Series - by Laura Antiniou - A marketplace for consensual slaves. 3 books. |

You have a newsletter? May we please receive it?
I read all three books and totally agree it is a good summer "hard" core type romance. I would not consider the Shades series any kind of instruction. I have read other historical romances that are vey suggestive of Dom/sub. At any rate they are just another romance for the reading. I have also read Screw the Roses and it is a very entertaining read and informative book. M (f) |

" The book is written poorly."
I don't disagree, but not poorly enough to take away from the story, IMO |

*People just want to bash it's style to seem smart*
While I overall agree with you about Kurt's statement, I disagree about the above statement if applied to people that actually read the book. The book is written poorly. No way can you compare it to the book 9 1/2 weeks. You should read the book. |

"Does nothing to advance closeness between the genders. The episodes of restraints and impact play are dispensed casually, almost irresponsibly, and do not speak to the larger intimacies and understandings that are best to be in place for these types of encounters. Sets back BDSM 50 years."
Examples please, in context? I totally disagree. People just want to bash it's style to seem smart, or to bash the bdsm parts to seem like they know what they are doing. It's just meant to entertain. It's not a 'how-to' book. |
