Hi All,
Having been reading erotica and trashy sex novels (yah, the ones with Fabio on the front...) for years, I was extremely disappointed at how well received this book was, and how poorly written.
If you want a really well written and tittilating series of D/s, read the Beauty series by Anne Roquelaire (Anne Rice) It was FANTASTIC! It's a play on what happened after the prince woke Beauty up. :)
The Shades books were good for at least putting D/s into the limelight for a little bit without the negative connotations, but the relationship between Ana and Christian is hardly D/s. They just play.

Saw on the news the other day how it's causing a baby boom it appears. "Greybies" as they were calling them.

"But most of all I am glad people are getting excited about reading again"

I second that MVPP.

The Marketplace and Sleeping Beauty series are good .

But because I met the author of Fifty Shades series I admire how humble and friendly she has remained when in the public eye.

I'm glad that other authors of erotica are now being recognized

But most of all I am glad people are getting excited about reading again

Some may be surprised to learn that some of the most powerful women (and men) are submissives. But definitely not M. ;^D

There's a little, but not much. She does 'submit' on the occasion, and not only about sex. It's a whole new world to her. Yes, she's not a submissive by nature. So? It's a little give and take.

There is literally no D/s in 50 Shades of Grey.

Currently reading the Beauty series and I have to say it is much deeper into D/s than Shades is. I still enjoyed Shades and am quite enjoying the Beauty series.

Also, try some of the Cherise Sinclair books (Masters of the Shadowlands) or Dom's Dungeon. More romance than the Marketplace, but probably better for a beginner to get some ideas of rules and behaviors.
