Not sure where everyone who is Big and Beautiful feel about fitness. I'm pretty sure our reasons for being B & B are different, yet we could probably all relate to the struggles we embark upon ...becoming or staying fit. I personally do not need to be very thin, but thinnner and 'more fit' is a constant struggle for me. I would feel better thinner, and I would feel better being more fit. And the plus would be that I would also look better. Yet, all my attempts to achieve this (and I do make many attempts!) fall short of anything significant, time and time again. Sometimes I just want to give it all up.... And the next day I say, 'Oh no, never give up ...just keep trying.' So this time, I want to try different things and finally reach some sort of goal, ...inspite of the fact that I am and always will be on weight gain meds, my metabolism is beyond dead, my motivation is only short lasting, and I really really do not 'like or enjoy' many healthy, low calorie foods. My attempts to combat all of these things often leave me feeling very disappointed and often deprived. I feel like I am a hamster on a wheel, constantly trying, but getting no where. Obviously ...I'm not trying hard enough.... just not sure how to change the cycle. It's sort of exhausting me.... Wondering how many others have some of the same struggles and how difficult they are for you? And if you have learned how to change your fitness levels, how have you done it? I'd also like to know if anyone here would be interested in some sort of challange.... and a friendly support system to lean on. It may just be me, but I do believe my swinging life would be more enjoyable emotionally and physically, if I were more fit. ....just wondering who else might feel like that. :)

IOP, I personally wouldn't consider you a BBW... you're absolutely gorgeous with amazingly sexy curves. :) I (Mr. Perv, hope it's ok if I post here) started 2012 out at around 360lbs. Today, I'm about 295 and still dropping. (I'm aiming for 240-220 by the end of 2013) I think that in this, just as in all things, knowledge is power. You can't change yourself until you know yourself. Most people have absolutely no clue how much activity they get in a day. The daily recommended is 10k steps. These aren't "running on the treadmill" or "walking around the block" steps... this is the MINIMUM REQUIREMENT FOR A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE, yet the many of us do not see this much activity unless we have a job that demands it. So how do you get to know yourself? You can get a cheap pedometer, use an app on your phone... or do what I did, and get a fitbit device and wear it 24x7. I quickly discovered that I wasn't even getting 1.5k steps in a day. Pretty horrifying, once you think about it. I work from home. I'm a programmer. Bottom line? My job was killing me, so it was time to start fighting back. We were already eating fairly healthily... and had been doing so for a couple years, without much results... I'd lose some weight here and there, but it would fluctuate back. Once I got clued in to how much my activity levels sucked, it was one of those forehead slapping moments. Really, I already knew I was failing at the activity levels. It wasn't until I saw the stats and facts in black and white that it finally hit me that I needed to do something about it. What did I do? Well, I didn't focus specifically on getting more exercise... forcing myself to do something is one of the best ways to make sure I don't do it. Instead, I made it a daily challenge to find ways to get more steps in. "I did 2k steps yesterday. I bet I can get 2.5k today!". It didn't matter what I was doing to get the extra steps, only that I got them. I started walking the dog to pick the kiddo up from school more often, instead of driving (1 mile round trip). I got a bike, and started taking the dog out for the runs that she needs (walky dog - best thing ever for riding a bike with a high energy dog, your pooch will love you for it). I started parking further away at the store, just because I knew it meant more steps. I started getting up and walking around the house during conference calls, instead of sitting on my ass in my chair. Nothing major, nothing drastic. Just small challenges to increase activities I was already engaging in. You know what? It's still a work in progress, but it worked. It didn't take long before I increased my daily activity to an average of 5k steps. This alone was enough for me to start shedding some weight, and I dropped about 30lbs without doing anything beyond what I described above. Fast forward to today, and I've started adding in some treadmill time. I didn't start out with anything hard core, just 10 minutes here and there. I quickly found that all the previous walking and bike rides had built up my legs and stamina, and I could actually jog! not something I'd ever been able to do before, but here I was, moving along at a brisk 6mph. I find this amazing, considering I went in for a heart stress test about 10 months ago and had to abort because I couldn't handle going over 2mph on the treadmill.

I just became utterly exhausted from it. lol. ...and yes, I was talking about a quit date for smoking, lol, not food. ...still not sure about when I should do it without sabotaging my diet, ...it's a dilemma for me. As for my diet, I am becoming more and more trusting of my choices every day. Up until now I've been completely avoiding restaurants, (as I have so often lost control just from the smell and sights of foods!) But last night I went out to a deliciously smelling Italian restaurant.... and I not only ate so well, I wasn't even pissy about it, lol. I have to go out again tonight for a birthday celebration, this time to a Pub of some sort. I'm a little more confident that I won't let all those fried food smells and sights get the best of me. But the trick for me there has been, if I screw up once, "just recover quickly! It doesn't have to be a big deal and start a whole bad cycle" ... so it hasn't. I also am always looking for some of those quick good foods that are still tasty to eat... I am not consistent at planning all my meals, so it's been very important for me to have some good emergency ones. This past week Dr. Praeger's frozen meatless meat chicken patties and burgers have saved the day. Omg... I can't even believe I 'like' them too! I read a book recently, (actually I listened to an audio book of it) about just eating as if you are naturally thin. Not a diet, just many many different helpful ways of thinking about it. I can't believe how much makes sense to me and has actually stuck in my brain!!! Who ever said this old dog can't be taught new tricks?! ..oh, that was me. Well, it's different this time and I cannot believe it really is. ....Maybe when I reach the point of actually believing it, is when I can move on to the next challenge.

User Details are only visible to members.	I don't think there's such a thing as a quit date, or were you talking about cigarettes? Dan and I have made a simple goal of 4 pounds down by the 4th, and keep them off, no going up down up down up down unless it's on top of each other. I think everyone gets in a rut here and there, and we certainly were. Being away this week and eating wonderful, fresh, delicious food, and in smaller amounts was really refreshing, and the kick we needed. I think it happens over and over that when we are very tired we tend to reach for something "easy," and not something healthy. Flying for 9 hours today, plus jet lag from the time change, plus no time for food, led us tonight to order a pizza. Nothing wrong with that sometimes, just it's a bad habit to do so when you're just plain old exhausted and run down. It leads to other bad decisions and lethargy. A good night's sleep will help, and so will getting back to my little workouts. Kinddraggon, I'm proud of you too. You don't just talk and whine and gripe, you take action and DO something about whatever it is that drags you down. Kudos. Gina

User Details are only visible to members.	Thank you Sed, appreciate it. I do think I was over worked on a couple of leg days, but other than that, I don't think that's the case. Sometimes I think it might just be as simple as the times I work out. I haven't gotten used to showering and starting my day between 1-2 p.m. yet, so sometimes I feel like I never get started... and it goes downhill from there. Completely agree with the smoking!! My original decision was (and still is) to completely focus on getting this diet, exercise routine and some weight loss under my belt, ...and then tackle the smoking head on. It's been 7-8 weeks, only approx. 1/3 of my goal weight, ...and I am at a loss for when my quit date should be set for. Of course my body was ready yesterday, but I am PETRIFIED to jeopardize my diet, new eating habits and any possible weight loss. ...eesh.

User Details are only visible to members.	Could be a slow start, could be that you are over worked. The general rule of thumb in PT World is that you should feel more energetic after you workout, if you feel winded, it can be one of two things or a combo of both, you are slowly building your stamina your body had not adjusted to this positive change, or you are being over worked. Also, the smoking. That in itself is a big problem and will drain you of energy. Either way, don't get discouraged, you are doing very well :).

User Details are only visible to members.	Thank you both! :) Funny you mentioned that Sed. No... I have not felt that 'yet'. And honestly I don't know why. I've done this many times and always noticed more energy any time I started my day with cardio. My 3 workouts are supersets of weight training, and altho they usually bring me to a sweat, (Oh, Leg day for sure, I dread Thursday's!) And I take long walks on the other days. But I almost feel more depleted than energetic. I drink a protein shake after every workout too, I just don't know what's going on with this. It could just be another 'slow' starting thing for me and it will come, or maybe I'm not doing enough, or maybe I'm such a pansy about being so sore all the time, or maybe there's something else going on with me, I don't know really. My first priority to do this was to feel more energetic, so I am hoping I could figure this out and that will change soon for me.

User Details are only visible to members.	Well, I don't usually talk in advance about this, but I need to, lol. It's week 7 (I think?) of my low calorie diet and workouts with a PT ...and the scale has finally been moving! :)))) I am 'almost' down my first 10 pounds! ...and ...I am feeling much better about it. I've been consistantly following my diet and exercise very well. I try to add more healthy or clean foods every week, and I know that changing my diet like this will be a work in progress for me. I am also constantly trying to add more activity into every day, even if it's not much, I just try to keep moving. (Oh, I am still trying to get used to be SORE every day of my life!)lol We've talked about The Scale around here.... and I have to say no matter what anyone says about it, seeing it move does make a difference! I made a mistake with not taking measurements at the beginning, so I haven't been able to use that to track progress. And my clothes, well, some fit better, differently or a little loose, and I do notice some differences in my body, but nothing to brag about. It has been the slowest start on earth, lol, and was struggling with discouragement, but now that the scale is moving a little, I feel my efforts have been worth it and it only motivates me to continue doing better! ...and ...my windows are much safer since I probably am not going to throw the damn thing through one! :-0 ...LOL!
