If, like the OP, you get tons of email, I can see how responding rudely can work as therapy for the frustration. However, we don't see much email on this site so we prefer to reply honestly but in a positive way. We attend ls events and you never know when you'll run into people you might have shot down via email. I say take the high road and be positive. It's good Karma.

It was an illustration of how "people who can't read or follow simple instructions" can act as if you are the one being rude.

Well, if you get a ton of emails (which we don't), I can understand getting snarky with people who can't either read a profile nor your reply to the first message..Best thing is the delete button, resisting the temptation to advice them of what dumbshits they are.
