The tradeoff between a short, concise profile and one that describes all that you want someone to know is difficult to find. Your profile (and your pictures) are your only chance to make a good first impression. I edit my profile almost every day. As it gets too long, the challenge becomes how to say it, but in fewer words. The print face on the delete key on my keyboard is wearing out.

I'm not sure I completely agree with that. Yes, we are in a text/tweet era, and for sure the younger generation does not appreciate conversation (and i believe many do not even 'know how' to converse at any great lengths! which is sad to me) ...but there are so many generations here at sls, that most definitly appreciate deeper levels of communication, and I have met many. I also think the older generations still look for that as well, ...unless they are seeking texters of course. Personally, I have no patience for those who don't think words are of much importance. ...just my opinion of course :)

Pd - just a theory. We are in the text / tweet era. We have found people don't appear to read and comprehend. Especially if you have a sex picture:). It is what it is for the most part. Unfortunately this site doesn't bring you "matches", just a lot of aspirational emails from people that think they are.

We've tried short profiles. They dont work.

We find ourselves continually adding to our profiles until they take 20 minutes to read. Then we re-read it and realize we have become "one of THOSE couples" so we take the ax to it and go back to a friendlier shorter profile.

The cycle just keeps repeating,

Consider making your profile shorter to match attention spans. Use bold or Colors to highlights your likes or dislikes. Ignore people that identify themselves to not be a match via email.

Don't get too upset. Stuff happens. It' is the internet after all.

If I saw profiles stating no old white guys from Akron I'd probably respond to them just for the fun of it.

If you search my posts here. 9 out of 10 are bitching about this very thing.

The short answer is most look at the pics and shoot an email. Some scan it but dont pick up on most you said. Others copy and paste the same email to everyone online. And some read it but just take a shot anyway.
