That "prohibitive attitude" by the hotel ans security was to be expected (see our post asking for feedback on the event).

We have been to Naughty in Nawlins and several lifestyle cruise takeovers and, knowing what we do about how naughty Vegas is really allowed to be, had us wondering how they would pull off the fun activities here, that we enjoy at other events.

As we observed in our other post, Vegas has a naughty image, but the city is actually quite parochial as far as what is really allowed. The recent marketing of Vegas has been along the lines of "what happens here, stays here", but really, you aren't allowed to let much "happen". You may not be aware of this, but until recently, Vegas had the highest ratio of churches to population of any American city. The town was founded by Mormon settlers and religion remains big among the residents and politicians.

The reasoning for the crack down on our kind of partying is that every bar , hotel and casino is licensed by either the Liquor Board or the Gaming Control Board or both, and both of those boards are staffed by very conservative people. So any hanky-panky that the board considers to be "detrimental to the well being of the community or the image of the licensing board" is not allowed (why do you think that there are no topless bars or strip clubs inside the casinos??). The threat to the hotel, casino and bars is that if they let their guests/customers/employees violate the "rules" they lose their license to do business. So that economic hammer gets applied to anyone on their property. (A popular night club at a major hotel was fined over $100,000.00 and ultimately was shut down for, among other transgressions, letting a female customer dance "lewdly" on the pole used by the go-go dancers.)

So it will be the same at the Wynn, City Center, Bally's MGM or anywhere you might want to go. It is the same at a dive bar that has a video poker machine as it is at The Palms. Vegas is actually a big tease. And we say that with love since we have lived here all of our adult lives and we do like the city. Just don't expect it to be the "anything goes" zone that the marketing campaign leads you to believe it is.

You can drink, gamble and even hook up here, just do it inside your hotel room.

We have said before," New Orleans makes Vegas look like church" and it still hold true.

Kevin and Stace, WE AGREE WITH YOU ! The hype about this being the 'Lifestyle of the Decade' and all the attendees 'listed' that were going to be there, was just that, hype. Unless the profile on the list of attendees had the green check mark in their attendees box, they had not actually put money down for a reservation, only an indication of intent. There were very few green marks on the total list of 'attendees'.

We've been in the Lifestyle for over 15 years, and we've been to many events, but this has to be the worst orchestrated and worst attended event we have ever experienced.

1) Attendance numbers were quite low compared to what was projected and we expected. There appeared to be a lot of newbies who were just there to be voyeurs.

2) Notices and signs in the 'dedicated' Fantasy Tower for things like, the places and times for meet & greets, playrooms & the type of playrooms were inadequate. Had to read the booklets/ handouts, which is fine, until you start wandering around slightly inebriated lol !

3) We are not a bunch of drunk kids; swingers are mature adults who like to be able to talk to/flirt with each other (believe it or not), and we like loud music, and the DJ music was pretty good, but the poolside music was WAY too loud, both Ditch Friday and Saturday evening.

4) Saturday night, our so-called 'private' VE disco & pool party, the hotel & VE coordinators had too many rules about nudity and playing around the pool area, and we know that security staff that were not briefed about 'who we really were', and how far to let us go w.r.t. 'playing'. We were very disappointed by the vanilla approach that the hotel and convention staff took with us, but seriously people, this was a private swingers party and we paid damn good money to be able to be playful at a party like this, and we were treated by hotel security and convention staff monitors like a bunch of children at a high school dance. They were shining flashlights into the dimly lit cabanas just to check to see if we were fornicating ! This was supposed to be a private swingers party?! We're swingers and we are about having fun with our sexuality amongst ourselves, and not in front of the public and not to offend anyone in public (especially children and parents). We don't typically get totally drunk and disorderly and fight like I'm sure they see with other crowds. So if we can't even walk around a private party with some titties showing (mine were beautifully painted over like a bustier and I was told to put on a bikini top over them), then I guess we were not at the right party or hotel. If this hotel is run by Mormons and they don't want nudity around their pool, then this party should have been at the Wynn or Caesars where they have topless pools. If we wanted to go to a vanilla party, we could have stayed home and not come all the way to Vegas (from Montreal ! ). And what's up with the bar mixed drinks at $16 and small glass of wine $13, that's just gouging and ridiculous !!

We've been to Lifestyles Conventions in the past that were excellent, this one rated poor in our estimation and we will not be back ! If you want to have a really great time, and if your not averse to the sea, come on the Freedom of the Seas in November. Now that's a swinger's party ! Last year, there really were 1800 couples and huge playrooms full of swingers (not just voyeurs).

Hats off to two of the hotel's security staff (David and Chris) who knew how to apply reason and fair play with us, quickly understood our demeanor, and who did not treat us like children !
