Cabin Fever
The long winding road to the cabin seemed to carve its way through the tall trees. Anticipation of preparing everything for the weekend has him hugging every curve to get there on time. When he makes his final turn before arriving at the cabin, he notices her car out in front. He thought it was odd because he had just got off the phone with her and she had complained about being stuck in the office until later on that evening. He himself had left work early to prep the cabin and open all the windows and put the drinks on ice for later. He coasted up behind her car and shut his truck off being as quiet as possible. He went around to the back of the cabin to the wrap around porch and went inside. There on the counter he saw her purse, her keys and her shoes. As he almost made it to the door he heard voices. Barely discernable he heard two distinct voices coming from the bedroom. He pauses, clinching his fists and leaned against the wall for support. He tried to compose himself so he could slow his breathing down. His heart seemed to want to beat out of his chest as he tried to make out the voices coming from the bedroom. He heard her moans become more discernable now but he couldn?t make out the other voice. He crept up to the door, grabbing the handle firmly in his trembling fist, and pushed the door wide open causing it slam into the wall behind it. Startled she jumps off the bed and grabs her chest and screams out toward him in a panic. ?Jesus you trying to give me a heart attack? she shouted. His heart sank as he saw the remote in her hand.
